Tomahawks clinch playoff spot with 5th straight win

Maine 2 @ Johnstown 6 – The Tomahawks clinched a berth in the 2020 Robertson Cup Playoffs with a convincing 6-2 victory over Maine on Monday night. Six different players scored for Johnstown in the win, which was the 5th straight for the Tomahawks.
Midway through the 1st period, the first goal of the game was scored, giving Johnstown an early 1-0 lead as Max Kouznetsov netted his 15th goal of the season.
During the 2nd period, the Hawks came out strong, as Pavel Kharin got onto the board to make it 2-0 and then four minutes later another Hawks goal was scored by Andrew Murphy to make it a 3-0 game. The Nordiques got on the board with a goal from Noah Kane late in the period, which was his 20th goal of the season to make it a 3-1 game at the end of two periods.
The third period of play started off with two goals that were a little over a minute apart. The first goal was scored unassisted by Johnstown’s Christian Gorscak. The second goal came just over a minute later by Maine’s Isaiah Fox to make it 4-2. The Hawks extend their lead to 5-2 with a goal from Brendan Blair and the Carson Gallagher scored on the power play late in the game to make it a 6-2 final.
Tomahawks goalie Alex Tracy made 19 saves in the win, while Avery Sturtz made 35 saves in the loss.
