February 27, 2020
The Aberdeen Wings of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Clayton Cosentino has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for the Air Force Academy in Atlantic Hockey.
Cosentino, 19, is in his first season playing junior hockey in the NAHL with the Wings. So far during the 2019-20 season the 6’2/196 lbs. native of Colorado Springs, Colorado, has played in 47 games and has record 15 goals and 16 assists for 31 points with a +14 rating.
Before coming to Aberdeen, Cosentino served as captain of the Colorado Rampage U18 team in the T1EHL. Over the course of two seasons he put up 68 points (23 goals 44 assists).
“Clay is an extremely hard working player that has a lot of detail to his game. He’s become a 200-foot center that can play up and down our lineup. He is a first class person that puts his teammates ahead of his own needs, and he always competes for the Wings logo. The solid staff at Air Force is getting a high end individual in Clay,” said Wings Head Coach Scott Langer.
“I am extremely honored, excited and blessed to announce my commitment to play Division I hockey at The Air Force Academy. I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches past & present, teammates and God for blessing me with this opportunity of a lifetime. #flyhigh,” stated Cosentino.
Clay will follow in the footsteps of former Wings players Erik Baskin, Kyle Haak, Matt Pulver, Shawn Knowlton and Dalton Weigel, who also attended and played hockey at Air Force.
