New Jersey goalie Pugliese makes NCAA D1 commitment

February 26, 2020
The New Jersey Titans, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that Top Prospects goaltender Patrick Pugliese has committed to play NCAA Division 1 Ice Hockey for the Niagara University Purple Eagles, who play in the Atlantic Hockey Association. His commitment begins in the fall of 2020.

Pugliese, 20, has been the workhorse between the pipes for the Titans this season having played over 1,800 minutes and faced 999 shots. He has appeared in 31 games during the 2019-20 season and possesses a 24-5-1 record. He has a 2.95 goals against average and .911 save percentage with one shutout.

The 6’0/180 lbs. native of Pasadena, California, was a member of the NAHL’s East Division’s team at the 2020 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament. He appeared in two games and posted a 1.99 goals against average and .941 save percentage.

“I wanted to thank my family, friends and coaches that have helped me along the way,” stated Pugliese. “None of this would have been possible without their constant support. I also would like to give a special shoutout to the Titans organization, especially Craig Doremus, for helping me achieve my goal of playing hockey at the highest level. I am extremely excited to pursue my education and play hockey next year at Niagara University.”

“We are extremely proud of Patrick and happy for him and the Pugliese family,” stated Titans head coach Craig Doremus. “Patrick has come in from day one and be a horse for us in the pipes. He has continued a long line of Titans’ Division I goaltenders. Patrick has continued to grow and develop throughout the year and he is a huge part of our team as we head towards the Robertson Cup playoffs. We are excited to watch Pugs join former Titans’ forward Ryan Naumovski and current Titans’ teammate Matt Cameron at Niagara.”

Niagara University is in Lewiston, NY. The Purple Eagles are coached by Jason Lammers. They currently have a 10-18-4 record.
