Shreveport forward Khokhlachev makes NCAA D1 commitment
The Shreveport Mudbugs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that 2020 NAHL Top Prospects forward Tim Khokhlachev has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for American International College in Atlantic Hockey.
Khokhlachev, 18, is in his first full season playing in the NAHL and second season playing junior hockey. The 6’4/209 lbs. native of Moscow, Russia, is having a very good season for the Mudbugs to date, recording 30 points (10 goals, 20 assists) in 46 games played.
Khokhlachev was selected to and recently played in the 2020 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the Selects Red Team, where he recorded four points in two games.
“Tim has been a workhorse since joining the Mudbugs last season. He had a great summer of training and came back this year ready to lead by example. Tim has a great combination of work ethic, size, and skill that is translating to a really effective 200-foot game. Tim still hasn’t reached the pinnacle of his game so his future is very bright. AIC runs a tremendous program and Tim is very excited to contribute to that once he’s done in a Mudbugs uniform,” said Mudbugs head coach Jason Campbell.
Khokhlachev played 32 games for the Mudbugs in 2018-19, recording eight points in 32 regular season games and two points in 10 playoff games.
Earlier this season, he was listed on NHL Central Scouting’s Players to Watch List, which came out in October.
