NAHL announces Bauer Hockey Divisional Stars of the Week

The North American Hockey League (NAHL) today announced the Divisional Stars of the Week presented by Bauer Hockey for the week ending February 9, 2020.  The Divisional Stars of the Week is a weekly feature during the 2019-20 regular season that honors the top performing players in each of the four NAHL divisions. Only players that are nominated by their respective teams are considered for the Divisional Players of the Week award.

Central Division Star of the Week: Cooper Haar, Forward, Aberdeen Wings

Aberdeen Wings forward Cooper Haar, 20, helped his team widen their lead atop the Central Division with a weekend home sweep of the Minot Minotauros. The 6’2/209 lbs. native of Huntington Beach, California, had four points (3 goals, 1 assist) in the two wins. That included two goals and an assist in Friday’s 4-3 win and another goal in Saturday’s 3-2 shootout win. For the season, Haar, who will be on Team Central at the 2020 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, is 2nd in team scoring with 39 points in 42 games played so far this season. “Cooper has been an added difference maker both on the ice and in the dressing room. He is a mature player that has a desire to win every night, and that desire is contagious. Cooper’s weekend was a big boost to get us heading in the right direction,” said Wings head coach Scott Langer.

East Division Star of the Week: Nick Siffringer, Forward, Jamestown Rebels

The Jamestown Rebels and forward Nick Siffringer, 19, posted a weekend home sweep of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights and now sit just two points out of the playoff spot in the East Division. The 5’11/180 lbs. native of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, had four points (3 goals, 1 assist) and was a +5 in the two wins. On Frdiay, Siffringer had two goals, including the game-winner, in a 3-0 win. On Saturday, Siffringer scored another game-winning goal and added an assist in a 6-1 win. For the season, Siffringer is 3rd in team scoring with 24 points in 46 games played. “Nick’s consistency is at a new level. We as a team are getting contributions from a lot more guys this second half, and he has led that change. He continues to improve his game and we are all reaping the rewards. We couldn't be happier for him as this award is well deserved,” said Rebels head coach Joe Coombs.

Midwest Division Star of the Week: Logan Ritchie, Forward, Kenai River Brown Bears

Kenai River Brown Bears forward Logan Ritchie, 20, put up points in all three games this weekend in a road series against the Janesville Jets. The 5’11/192 lbs. native of O’Fallon, Missouri, put up five points (2 goals, 3 assists) in the series. On Thursday, Ritchie, who will play for the Midwest Team at the 2020 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, had a goal in a 4-3 loss. On Friday, Ritchie found the back of the net again, this time in a 5-4 loss. On Saturday, he racked up three assists in a 7-2 win. For the season, Ritchie is 2nd in team scoring with 46 points in 48 games played. “Logan is quietly putting together a very strong season. His consistent production has been key for our team this season. We will look to Logan to continue his success down this final stretch of the season,” said Brown Bears head coach Kevin Murdock.

2nd Star: Parker Lindauer, F, Janesville Jets

 South Division Star of the Week: Warren Natyshak, Forward, Shreveport Mudbugs

The Shreveport Mudbugs moved closer to clinching a spot in the Robertson Cup Playoffs thanks to a weekend home sweep of the Springfield Jr. Blues. 20-year-old forward Warren Natyshak played a big part in the sweep as the 6’2/180 lbs. native of Toledo, Ohio, posted four points (1 goal, 3 assists) in the two wins. On Friday, Natyshak had a goal and an assist in a 4-3 win. On Saturday, he picked up two assists in a 4-0 win. For the 2019-20 season, Natyshak has 21 points in 37 games played. “Warren has quietly gone about his business this year contributing in many ways to help our team. He’s a versatile forward that plays a solid 200-foot game. His great play earned us some valuable points in the standings this weekend and we are happy to see him get recognized for his efforts,” said Mudbugs head coach Jason Campbell.
