Friday Finals: Titans close in on playoff spot with win

Noah West stopped all 40 shots that came his way for his second shutout of the season in a 3-0 win on Friday.

Maryland 4 @ New Jersey 6 - Cam Gendron registered a hat trick as the New Jersey Titans outlasted the Maryland Black Bears 6-4. Gavin Gulash, Chris Garbe and Tyler Nasca also scored for the Titans in the victory. Patrick Pugliese was sensational as he made 36 saves to improve to 21-4-1 on the season. Aaron Swanson, Luke Mountain, Garrett Szydlowski and Jack Smiley all lit the lamp for the Black Bears. Aaron Randazzo took the loss as he made 17 stops.
 
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 0 @ Jamestown 3 - Noah West turned aside all 40 shots thrown in his direction to earn his second shutout of the season and help the Jamestown Rebels blank the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights 3-0. Nick Siffringer tallied two goals and Noah Finstrom added an empty net goal in the closing seconds. Eric Olson had three assists while Seth Bergeron added two helpers of his own. Zach Stejskal stopped 31 shots in a losing effort. 
 
Topeka 1 @ Amarillo 6 - Ty Black and Devan Tongue each potted a pair of goals as the Amarillo Bulls continued their hot streak as they dominated the Topeka Pilots 6-1. Matt Allen and Jordan Venegoni also found the back of the net in the Bulls win. Charlie Glockner stopped 20 of the 21 shots he faced. Vincent Corcoran tallied the lone goal of Topeka while Guy Blessing and Josh Langford combined for 31 saves.
 
Odessa 1 @ Lone Star 5 - The Lone Star Brahmas won their 12th straight game as they knocked off the Odessa Jackalopes 5-1. Michal Stinil notched two goals while Drew DeCarlo, Mitchell Digby and CJ Walker all found the back of the net as well. Ludvig Persson needed just 9 saves to win his 20th game of the year. Isaiah Huempfner netted the only goal for the Jackalopes. Zach Stern stopped 23 shots for Odessa.
 
New Mexico 1 @ Corpus Christi 2 (SO) - Evan Carroll’s goal in the 6th round of the shootout helped end the Corpus Christi IceRays 15 game winless streak as they topped the New Mexico Ice Wolves 2-1. Philip Ekberg got the game’s first goal for New Mexico early in the second period. It stayed that way until midway through the third period when Logan Ommen’s second goal of the year tied the game at one. Jeremy Forman and Henrik Laursen each made 30 saves for their respective sides. 
 
Kenai River 4 @ Janesville 5 - The Janesville Jets won a back-and-forth affair with the Kenai River Brown Bears 5-4. The two teams traded goals in the opening period as Parker Lindauer scored first for Janesville only to be countered by Lucas Wahlin scoring his first goal in the NAHL. The Jets took a 3-1 lead into the second intermission after getting goals from Jordon Halverson and Isaac Novak. Max Helgeson got the Brown Bears within one with just over four minutes to play but Arsenii Smekhnov’s first goal increased the lead back to two. Peter Morgan made the score 4-3 with just over 90 seconds left in regulation. Carter Hottman scored an empty net goal to give the Jets some insurance and they would need it as Logan Ritchie scored in the dying seconds. Riley Sims turned aside 26 shots to pick up the win in goal while Landon Pavlisin also stopped 26 shots in the loss.
 
Springfield 3 @ Shreveport 4 - The Shreveport Mudbugs scored a 4-3 win over the Springfield Jr. Blues as they received third period goals from Warren Natyshak and Jacob Smith. Matt Weber and Alexis Girard netted goals earlier in the contest. Maiszon Balboa only needed 14 stops to earn the win in net. Hunter Longhi, Noah Marino and Hunter Mccurdy found the back of the net for the Jr. Blues while Cole Walter made 33 saves in his first NAHL start. 
 
Minot 3 @ Aberdeen 4 - The Aberdeen scored three times in just under two and a half minutes and then held on for a 4-3 win on Friday over the Minot Minotauros. Nates Vertes scored the opening goal while Cooper Haar scored twice in a span of 20 seconds. Jay Buchholz and Dan Russell got the Minotauros within one after 40 minutes of play but an Antonio DiPaolo goal early in the third turned out to be the eventual game winner. Sam Skinner scored late for Minot but it was too little, too late. Jake Sibell won his 12th game of the season by making 22 saves. Ben Garrity was dealt the loss despite making 37 stops. 
 
MN Wilderness 2 @ Bismarck 4 - Adam Stacho’s goal with just under four minutes remaining was the eventual game winner as the Bismarck Bobcats doubled up the Minnesota Wilderness 4-2. The two teams traded goals through the first 52 minutes of action. Jack Conroy struck first for Bismarck with Garrett Worth tying the game before the end of the first. Carl Fish gave the Bobcats the lead again only to see Kimball Johnson tie it in the third period. Conroy added his second goal of the game with an empty netter in the final minute. Andrew Miller got the win in goal as he made 24 saves. Isak Johansson took the loss as he stopped 22 shots. 
 
Johnstown 8 @ Northeast 3 - Christian Gorscak scored twice and added an assist as the Johnstown Tomahawks offense lit up the scoreboard in a 8-3 win over the Northeast Generals. Carson Grainer also found the back of the net twice while Pavel Kharin and Carson Gallagher each had a goal and two assists. Ethan Webb and Tristan Poissant scored in the win as well. David Tomeo made 33 saves to earn his 16th win of the year. Matt Smoliga tickled the twine twice while Tyler Cooper also scored for the Generals. Joey Stanizzi and Connor Bradford combined for 26 saves.
 
Chippewa 3 @ MN Magicians 1 - Jake Vaughan scored twice while Trent Burnham made 34 saves as the Chippewa Steel beat the Minnesota Magicians 3-1. Braiden Dorfman tallied the other goal for the Steel in the win. Robert Christy scored the lone goal for the Magicians while Dysen Skinner stopped 32 shots.
