January 3, 2020
The Lone Star Brahmas of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that defenseman Matt Rickard has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for the American International College Yellowjackets, members of Atlantic Hockey.
Rickard joins teammate Michal Stinil as the second member of the Brahmas’ current roster to commit to the Yellowjackets this season.
Rickard, 20, is in his first season playing in the NAHL for the Brahmas. The 6’1/185 lbs. native of Coventry, Rhode Island, is currently tied for 3rd among scoring for NAHL defensemen with 22 points (6 goals, 16 assists) in 32 games played so far this season.
Rickard was named the NAHL’s Defenseman of the Month back in September, as he got his season off to a great start by posting seven points in the first six games of the season the Brahmas posted a perfect 6-0-0 record during the month.
“Matt has earned this opportunity to play at the next level, and we are all excited to watch him play his game with the Yellowjackets. He is a real deal 200-foot-player and he has put in the time and effort to make that happen. He really has turned into a terrific player, and we are all very happy for him,” said Brahmas head coach Dan Wildfong.
