Aberdeen goaltender Welsch makes NCAA D1 commitment

January 2, 2020
The Aberdeen Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that goaltender Henry Welsch has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for the University of Massachusetts-Lowell.

Welsch, 19, is in his second season with the Wings. He joined the Wings at the end of their 2018-19 Robertson Cup Championship Season last year.  The 6’2/194 lbs. native of Lakeville, Minnesota has played in 19 games for the Wings this season and has a 1.84 goals against average and a .934 save percentage to go along with a sparkling 12-2-4 record.

“Henry’s professional approach to the game, along with his high end work ethic helps him excel on and off the ice. It has allowed him to be in a position to play at a very good school in UMass-Lowell. Henry is an unreal teammate that puts the team first everyday. He will be highly successful at all things he pursues,” said Wings Head Coach Scott Langer.

“I’m very excited for this opportunity at Lowell and the next four years, and thank you to my family coaches teammates and the wings family for all the support throughout this process,” said Welsch.

UMass-Lowell is located in Lowell, MA.  They play in the Hockey East Conference.  They are coached by Norm Bazin who is in his 9th season with a 187-100-26 record.
