Friday Finals: Big 3rd period leads Bobcats to win over Minot

Michael Muschitiello had a pair of goals in a 5-3 road win on Friday night.

Minot 3 @ Bismarck 6 – The Bobcats scored five goals in the 3rd period to erase a 3-1 deficit and come from behind to defeat the Minotauros on Friday, 6-3. Bismarck took an early 1-0 lead thanks to a 1st period goal from Jacob Marti. The Minotauros then scored three goals in the 2nd period, which included two from Kyler Kleven and another from Ville Immonen to take a 3-1 lead. In the 3rd period, the Bobcats scored five goals in a 15-minute span, which included tallies from Austin Jouppi, Ethan Gauer, Tim Piechowski, Trea Irey and another from Marti to secure the win. Bobcats goalie Ryan Ullan made 28 saves in the win, while Ben Garrity made 32 saves in the loss.
 
Topeka 5 @ Shreveport 3 – The Pilots widened their gap in the South Division standings over the Mudbugs thanks to a 5-3 road win on Friday as Michael Muschitiello scored twice in the win. Topeka jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back thanks to 1st period goals from Luc Salem and Shawn Kennedy and 2nd period goals from Lucas Sandoval and Muschitiello. The Mudbugs attempted a comeback later in the 2nd period with goals from Sam Miller and Tim Khokhlachev, but another goal from Muschitiello early in the 3rd period secured the win. Dawson Sciarrino had the third goal for Shreveport late in the 3rd period. Guy Blessing made 28 saves in the win, while Maiszon Balboa made 9 saves before being lifted early in the 2nd period for the loss.
 
Austin 2 @ MN Wilderness 3 (SO) – The Wilderness came from behind, erasing a two-goal Bruins lead, to take Friday’s game in a shootout, 3-2. The Bruins stormed out to a 2-0 lead early in the 2nd period with a pair of goals from Tiernan Shoudy. However, the Wilderness had an answer thanks to a pair of goals from Bram Scheerer, who scored midway through the 2nd period and in the late stages of the 3rd period to tie the game at 2-2. After a scoreless overtime, Kimball Johnson scored the lone goal in the shootout to secure the extra point. Wilderness goalie Kaleb Johnson made 32 saves in the win, while Bruins goalie Brett Miller made 26 saves in the loss.
 
MN Magicians 1 @ Chippewa 3 – Steel goalie Trent Burnham made 35 saves to lead his team to a 3-1 home win over the visiting Magicians on Friday. After a scoreless 1st period, the Steel got on the board midway through the 2nd period thanks to a power play goal from Jacob Dirks. The lead increased to 2-0 early in the 3rd period as Ian Famulak scored his 4th goal of the season. The Magicians made it a 2-1 game three minutes later as Chris Konin found the back of the net. However, just :32 seconds later, Killian Kiecker-Olson put the game on ice with his 10th goal of the season. Magicians goalie Dysen Skinner made 34 saves in the loss.
