December 18, 2019
The Odessa Jackalopes, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Matt Clark has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for Bentley University in Atlantic Hockey
Clark, 20, is second among the Jackalopes in scoring among defensemen. During the 2019-20 season, he has accumulated three goals and five assists for eight points. The 6’1/185 lbs. native of Jamison, Pennsylvania, has also been a constant presence on the Jackalopes blue line, appearing in 27 out of 28 games played so far this season.
“I am extremely honored to be able to commit to a Division 1 program, especially one that is as good a school as Bentley,” said Clark. “I have dreamt of playing college hockey since I was 14 and I would never have been able to get here without amazing teammates and coaches. Our coaches with the Jacks this season have been incredibly helpful in developing me as a person and a player and our locker room has some of the best guys I’ve been lucky enough to play with.”
Clark played for the Chippewa Steel during the 2018-19 season, recording 18 points in 50 games played. He was also selected to and played in the 2019 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the Midwest Division team.
Bentley University plays college hockey at the Division 1 level as a part of the Atlantic Hockey Conference. The Falcons are coached by Ryan Soderquist, currently in his eighteenth season.
Clark becomes the second Jackalope on the current roster to be committed to the Falcons. Forward Vilho Saariluoma is also a Bentley commit.
