From there, it was all Generals in the 2nd period as they scored five straight goals in a 14-minute span to take a 5-1 lead. Smith notched both of his goals in the 2nd period, including a power play tally. McCanney, Gerard Marretta, and Keegan Ripper also found the back of the net in the five-goal 2nd period.

In the 3rd period, the Nordiques mounted a comeback as Timmy Kent scored just :25 seconds into the period to make it 5-2. After Tyler Cooper scored for Northeast to make it 6-2, the Nordiques rattled off three straight goals, including two from Stefan Owens and another from Kent to make it a 6-5 game late in the 3rd period. However, an empty-net goal in the final seconds from McCanney made it a 7-5 final.

Northeast goalie Joey Stanizzi made 24 saves in the win, while Avery Sturtz made 28 saves in the loss.
