November 29, 2019
The Kenai River Brown Bears, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), have announced that Chris Hedlund has been promoted to the position of General Manager.
Hedlund started with the organization as a regional scout in 2016, and became Director of Hockey Operations the following season. Last season Hedlund served as Associate General Manager, assuming many responsibilities of operations and management of the organization.
“Chris has been instrumental in our success. His tireless behind the scenes efforts have paid dividends and we have confidence in his business and hockey abilities,” stated Nate Kiel, president of the parent Kenai Peninsula Youth Foundation.
Hedlund will assume control of the Kenai River team, and work with the KPYF in developing a five-year strategic plan to achieve success both on and off the ice. “We are thankful for our fans and sponsors, and are excited to bring them the NAHL brand for many years to come,” said Kiel.
“I am grateful for this opportunity with one of the oldest teams in the NAHL, and look forward to continuing our work in putting a quality team on the ice and in the community,” Hedlund said.
A native of Anoka, MN, Hedlund has coached AAA youth hockey and served as a scout for NA3HL power house Granite City Lumber Jacks. Chris and his wife Teresa have three children.
