The Minot Minotauros of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Ville Immonen has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey for Union College in the ECAC. Immonen becomes the Minotauros 53rd NCAA DI commit and 96th overall NCAA hockey commitment.
Immonen, 20, is currently second on the team with 11 points (5 goals, 6 assists) through 12 games played. The 6’2/188 lbs. native of Seinäjoki, Finland, played his entire career in his native Finland prior to this season the adjustment to the North American style of play has not been as difficult as the forward anticipated. “Being a Tauro has been extremely helpful. With such great teammates and coaches I have been able to adjust my game to North American rinks faster than I thought,” said Immonen. “I want to thank my family and all the coaches and teammates I have had along the years.”
“Ville has been impressive so far this year. He is a legitimate first line center in our league and I believe he will continue to develop as he adjusts to the North American style,” said Minotauros head coach Marty Murray. “He plays a strong 200-foot and he does all the little things well that don’t necessarily show up on the scoresheet.”
“During my visit to Union, I got the feeling that I am really wanted there and all the coaches and players were really nice and helpful. They told me that it’s their goal to win a National Championship during the next four years. Also their campus is really cool and facilities for hockey are next level.”
Immonen said he wants to become a sports journalist, though he also intends to study economics.
