Saturday Scores: Ice Dogs takeover Midwest lead with sweep

Noah Finstrom helped the Jamestown Rebels to their first sweep of the 2019-20 season.

Saturday's Box Scores

Fairbanks 8 @ New Mexico 3 - It was all Fairbanks, all night long as the Ice Dogs dominated New Mexico by a score of 8-3. Parker Brown’s hat trick led the Ice Dogs to a big win while Oliver Kjaer picked up a goal and four assists for Fairbanks. Matt Koethe, Bret Link, Jack Johnston and Nicholas Ostbloom all found the back of the net for Fairbanks. Mattias Sholl and Keaton French teamed up for 23 saves. Griffen Sanom, Emil Gabrielson and Brandt Pederson all scored goals for the Ice Wolves. Josh Graziano made 37 saves in a losing effort for New Mexico.
 
Aberdeen 4 @ Chippewa 1 - Jake Beaune potted a pair of goals as the Aberdeen Wings completed their sweep of the Chippewa Steel. Natan Vertes chipped in a goal and an assist while Cooper Haar found the back of the net. Henry Welsch only needed to make 11 saves to earn the win in goal. Brendan Ogle scored the only Chippewa goal as Trent Burnham took the loss as he made 30 saves on 34 shots.
 
St. Cloud 2 @ MN Wilderness 3 (OT) - Nate Horn’s overtime winner lifted the Minnesota Wilderness to a 3-2 win over the St. Cloud Blizzard on Saturday night. Lewis Crosby scored both of the Wilderness’ goals in regulation, giving him six for the year. Kaleb Johnson turned aside 22 shots to pick up his second win on the weekend. Luke Aquaro and Ryan Green netted goals for the Blizzard. Sam Metcalf, playing in his first game of the year, made 38 saves.
 
Bismarck 5 @ Minot 1 - Five different Bobcats found the back of the net as they overwhelmed the Minotauros by a score of 5-1. Tim Piechowski tallied a goal and an assist. George Grannis, Austin Jouppi, Jacob Marti, and Daniel Chladek all found the back of the net in the win for Bismarck. Andrew Miller needed just 18 saves to win his second game of the weekend. Andranik Armstrong-Kinkade netted the only goal for Minot and Ben Garrity stopped 25 of 30 shots.
 
MN Magicians 3 @ Austin 6 - Hugh Larkin scored a pair of goals and added an assist as the Austin Bruins doubled up the Minnesota Magicians by a score of 6-3. Carson Riddle and Mason McCormick tallied a goal and an assist. Jed Pietila and Ben Almquist also scored for the Bruins. Brett Miller grabbed his second win of the weekend as he made 20 saves. Jake Hale, Jimmy Doyle and Trevor Kukkonen all scored for the Magicians in the loss.
 
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 3 @ New Jersey 4 (OT) - Mitch Machlitt’s second goal of the game was the game winner at the 2:29 mark of overtime as New Jersey finished off a three game sweep of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights. Josef Gloms and Matt Cameron lit the lamp as well for New Jersey. Patrick Pugliese stopped 23 of 26 shots in the win. Tyrone Bronte led the Knights with a goal and an assist. Caydon Meyer and Jeffrey Bertrand each scored in the loss. Alex Contey denied 28 of 32 shots in a losing effort.
 
Kenai River 5 @ Northeast 3 - The Brown Bears exploded for four third period goals as they completed the sweep of the Northeast Generals with a 5-3 win on Saturday. Justin Daly potted a pair of goals while Logan Ritchie and Theo Thrun found the back of the net. Zach Krajnik had a goal and two assists in the win for Kenai River. Landon Pavlisin stopped 30 of 33 shots to earn the win in the crease. Charlie Reid, Tyler Cooper and Trevor Smith all scored for the Generals. Connor Bradford made 35 saves in the loss.
 
Corpus Christi 0 @ Amarillo 2 - Charlie Glockner stopped all 23 shots fired in his direction as the Amarillo Bulls won their second straight game against the Corpus Christi IceRays, this one by a score of 2-0. Jordan Venegoni had a goal and an assist while Devan Tongue notched the other goal for Amarillo. Jeremy Forman turned aside 28 shots for the IceRays.
 
Shreveport 5 @ Odessa 0 - Dawson Sciarrino scored twice and Richie Parent earned the shutout as the Shreveport Mudbugs took down the Odessa Jackalopes 5-0. Matt Weber, Timofei Khoklachev and Billy Feczko all scored in the win. Zach Stern made 14 saves for the Jackalopes.
 
Maine 3 @ Jamestown 5 - Liam Hansson scored twice and Noah Finstrom added three assists as the Jamestown Rebels completed the sweep of the Maine Nordiques by a score of 5-3. Marshall Walker and Valerii Rykov each tallied a goal and an assist for Jamestown. Carter Eha added a goal as well. Jon Howe got the win in goal as he made 31 saves. Kevin Pitts, Stefan Owens and Cannon Green all got on the scoresheet for Maine. Connor Androlewicz stopped 46 shots for the Nordiques, 
 
Johnstown 1 @ Maryland 2 (OT) - Kyle Oleksiuk scored the game winning goal in overtime as the Maryland Black Bears topped the Johnstown Tomahawks 2-1. Jackson Sterrett scored the only goal in regulation for Maryland while Andrew Takacs stopped 37 of 38 shots to pick up the win in goal. Jason Tynan tallied the lone goal for Johnstown. David Tomeo stood on his head for the Tomahawks as he made 53 saves in the loss. 
 
Janesville 5 @ Springfield 2 - Nick Gonrowski led all skaters with three points as the Janesville Jets scored a 5-2 win over the Springfield Jr. Blues. Nick Nardella and Carter Hottmann each picked up a goal and an assist for Janesville. Logan Ommen, Henry Sweeney and Isaac Novak also netted goals for the Jets. Salvatore Evola stopped 37 shots en route to his first win as a Jet. Hunter Longhi scored both goals for the Jr. Blues while Ryan Wilson made 33 saves for Springfield.

Lone Star 4 @ Topeka 1 - Joey Baez scored a hat trick for the Lone Star Brahmas as they took care of the Topeka Pilots by a score of 4-1. Mitchell Digby also scored for the Brahmas and they got 17 saves from Ludvig Persson in the win. Kyler Yeo scored the only goal for Topeka while Guy Blessing made 25 saves in the loss.
