The Shreveport Mudbugs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that Top Prospects forward Jack Jaunich has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Aurora University.
Jaunich, 20, just completed his third and final season playing in the NAHL, which was all spent with the Mudbugs in Shreveport. The 5’10/180 lbs. native of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, played in 58 games during the 2018-19 regular season and recorded 26 points (9 points, 17 assists).
He was also selected to and played in the 2019 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the South Division team, recording one point in two games.
“Since Day 1 I have embraced the Mudbugs culture and Louisiana in general and this has been a second home to me for three years now. I enjoyed coming to the rink, seeing the guys everyday, and will miss many of those moments and the atmosphere in the arena. I was amazed by the fans and my experience in Shreveport,” said Jaunich.
We expect Jack to be an on the ice and in the community just like he was with the Mudbugs. Jacks hands, ability to play in tight spaces, and work ethic will definitely add to the growing success of this program," said Mudbugs head coach Jason Campbell.
Jaunich began playing for the Mudbugs in the 2016-17 season and won a Robertson Cup with the Mudbugs during the 2017-18 season. In 136 career NAHL games with Shreveport, Jaunich recorded 44 career points.
He is the 11th Mudbugs player from the 2018-19 roster who has made an NCAA commitment.
