Springfield forward Puricelli makes NCAA DI commitment

April 4, 2019

Brandon Puricelli played in the 2019 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament and was also named the NAHL Forward of the Month for March.

The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that Top Prospects forward Brandon Puricelli has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Minnesota-Duluth in the NCHC.

Puricelli, 21, has played parts of three seasons with the Jr. Blues and has been phenomenal this season. The Ellisville, Missouri native was a 2019 NAHL Top Prospects participant in February where he recorded two assists.

Overall during the 2018-19 season Puricelli has 30 goals and 48 assists for 78 points in 57 games played. His 48 assists this season is a new Jr. Blues single-season record and his 78 points this season is the second most points in a single season. He currently ranks 4th in NAHL scoring.

Puricelli was named the NAHL Forward of the Month for March the same day he made his NCAA Division I commitment. He led all NAHL players with 23 points in the month of March, which included 9 goals, 14 assists, and a +9 rating.

“Brandon has played over 130 games with us here in Springfield. He has grown into a very good player who continues to improve each season. This is a well deserved opportunity for him and Minnesota-Duluth is getting one hell of a player,” said Jr. Blues head coach Tyler Rennette.

“I think everything started to come into focus at the Top Prospects Tournament. It was an incredible experience playing with guys that you normally compete against and too see the arena full of scouts was incredible. This was my fourth and last year of juniors, but I trusted the process and path and to have it work out in the end with a Division I opportunity is everything I could have asked for. I hope to go to Minnesota-Duluth and make an impact and help them continue on their winning tradition,” said Puricelli.
