Friday Finals: Minot, Austin, Springfield lock up playoff spots

Ben Schmidling had a hat-trick and an assist in a 7-4 win on Friday to help the Springfield Jr. Blues clinch a spot in the 2019 Robertson Cup Playoffs.

Aberdeen 4 @ Minot 5 - Keenan Lund’s goal with 3:34 remaining was the difference as the Minot Minotauros held off the Aberdeen Wings to win 5-4 on Friday night. With the win, the Minotauros are heading to the postseason. Andrew Kangas potted a pair of goals and an assist while Taylor Lantz finished the night with four assists. Fritz Belilse and Didrik Henbrant also scored for Minot in the victory. Nicholas Grabko made 27 saves to grab the win while Matt Vernon made 32 saves.
 
Austin 5 @ Brookings 2 - Hugh Larkin tallied a hat trick and an assist as the Austin Bruins clinched their spot in the Robertson Cup playoffs. Dante Sheriff grabbed a goal and a helper while Connor Mylymok also lit the lamp for the Bruins. Brett Miller made 22 saves to pick up the win in goal. Tyler Hinterser scored twice for the Blizzard. George McBey and Jack Caruso combined for 45 saves.
 
Chippewa 4 @ Springfield 7 - Ben Schmidling notched a hat trick and an assist to lead the Springfield Jr. Blues to a 7-4 victory of Chippewa and clinch a spot in the Robertson Cup playoffs. Brandon Puricelli had a goal and three assists while Nikita Kozyrev lit the lamp twice. Lukas Kucera also scored for the Jr. Blues while Jack Williams made 12 saves to pick up the win. David Sudbrink, Dylan Moulton, Isaac Moberg and Killian Kiecker-Olson all score for the Steel. Josh Langford stopped 22 shots.
 
Odessa 2 @ Amarillo 7 - Logan Jenuwine’s hat trick got him closer to the NAHL single season goal scoring record as the Romeo, Michgian native now has 51 on the season. Alex Peterson netted a goal and two assists while Gabriel Seger, Cooper Fensterstock and Brett Abdelnour also scored for the Bulls in their win. Jason Grande continued his hot streak as he made 24 saves for Amarillo. Joseph Winkelmann had a goal and an assist for the Jackalopes. John Serafin also scored for Odessa. Kade Phipps and Alex Camarre combined for 33 saves.
 
Janesville 3 @ Fairbanks 8 - Luke Mobley had a career night as he logged a hat trick and added three assists as the Fairbanks Ice Dogs routed the Janesville Jets, 8-3. Noah Wilson grabbed himself a goal and four helpers. John Stampohar, Matt Koethe, Brenden MacLaren and Grant Ledford all scored in the huge Fairbanks victory. Mattias Sholl was excellent one again as he stopped 25 of 28 shots. Matt Kirwan scored twice for the Jets while Matt Hanewall also lit the lamp. Cole Brady stopped 33 shots 
 
MN Magicians 1 @ Kenai River 4 - Three points, one goal and two points, from Zach Krajnik kept the slim Brown Bears playoff dream arrived as they took down the Magicians , 4-1. Michael Spethmann and Vincent Weis also found the back of the net for the Brown Bears. Gavin Enright was incredible once again for Kenai River, he made 34 saves. Dawson Klein potted a goal for the Magicians, the only one of the night, and Ethan Haider made 35 saves.
 
Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 2 @ Jamestown 0 - Zach Stejskal stopped all 29 shots fired in his direction and for the night, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights are in playoff position. They have jumped the Northeast Generals and now occupy for the fourth place spot in the East Division. Tyrone Bronte and Jake Fuss scored the goals for the Knights. Ryan Keane was excellent, stopping 33 of 35.
 
New Jersey 4 @ Maryland 3 - Two goals from Brody Medeiros and three points from Shane Haviland led the New Jersey Titans to a 4-3 win over the Maryland Black Bears. Kyle Jeffers also bagged a goal and an assist in the win. Brandon Perrone only needed to make 15 saves to secure the victory. Jonathan Young and Luke Mountain each had a goal and an assist for the Black Bears while Anthony Del Tufo made 38 stops. 
 
Lone Star 4 @ Corpus Christi 1 - Seth Eisele was phenomenal as he made 31 saves and limited the IceRays to a single goal in the Brahmas 4-1 victory. Blake Evennou had a goal and an assist. Tim Henriksson, Nick Siffringer and Matt Guerra also scored for Lone Star. Mitchell Walinski scored the only goal for Corpus Christi and Brian George made 21 saves.
 
Bismarck 3 @ MN Wilderness 1 - The Bismarck Bobcats clawed closer to a playoff berth after defeating the Minnesota Wilderness, 3-1. Tim Piechowski, Adam Stacho and Daniel Chladek all found the back of the net for the Bobcats. Donte Lawson scored a highlight reel goal for the only tally of the game from Minnesota. John Roberts walked away with the win after stopping 29 shots. Ryan Fanti was dealt the loss as he made 19 saves.
 
Topeka 2 @ Shreveport 1 (OT) - Austin McCarthy was the overtime hero as the Topeka Pilots continue to stay alive in their pursuit of the Fraser Cup playoffs. Matthew Francois scored in regulation for the Pilots while Ethan Harrison scored the only goal for Shreveport. McLean Door grabbed the victory in the crease by making 32 saves. Chuard stopped 29 shots for the Mudbugs.
