Shreveport forward Feiwell makes NCAA DI commitment

January 28, 2019
The Shreveport Mudbugs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Jay Feiwell has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Miami University in the NCHC.

Feiwell, 19, is a three-year veteran of the Mudbugs in the NAHL. The 5’10/195 lbs. native of Carmel, Indiana, is currently tied for the scoring lead for this year’s team with 30 points (11 goals, 19 assists) in 30 games played.

Feiwell joined the Mudbugs at the start of the 2016-17 season. In 129 career NAHL regular season games, he has recorded 56 points.

“Mudbugs hockey is proud that Jay is getting rewarded for his unselfish, team first, and lead by example way of playing hockey.  This opportunity at the next level is well deserved and Miami will be in for a high-energy treat when Jay hits the ice,” said Mudbugs head coach Jason Campbell.

“Honored to announce my commitment to play college hockey at Miami University. I’d like to thank my family, coaches, and teammates who have helped me along the way. #Brotherhood,” said Feiwell on Twitter.

Prior to playing in the NAHL for Shreveport, Feiwell spent four seasons with the Chicago Mission playing at the Midget and Bantam levels.

He is the fifth player on the 2018-19 Mudbugs roster who is committed to an NCAA Division I school.
