November 1, 2018
The Aberdeen Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Pierson Brandon has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the United States Air Force Academy.
Brandon, 18, is a 6'0/167 lbs. native of Irvington, New York. He is in his first season with the Wings. So far during the 2018-19 season, Brandon has 1 goal and 6 assists (7 points) in 13 games played with a +13 rating.
Over the past three seasons Brandon has spent his time with the New Jersey Avalanche AYHL & T1EHL U16 & U18 Leagues. During the 2015-16 season, Brandon had the most points by a defenseman (25), and was part of the AYHL 16U Championship Team. During the 2016-17 Season he was a AYHL 16U National Champion. Last season in 2017-18, he was on a AYHL 18U Premier Championship team and a T1EHL U18 Champion.
"Pierson is a player with a very high ceiling when it comes to development. He is a defenseman that can contribute both defensively and offensively and his game will translate very well at the next level,” said Wings Head Coach Scott Langer.
“I'd like to thank the coaching staff, teammates, and the Odde Family for putting me in a position to get noticed by a great place like Air Force. The decision to go was easy after seeing the campus and what they have to offer to all their students whether they are athletes or otherwise. I'm very grateful for the opportunity and understand that now more then ever I have to work hard and continue helping my team and developing to get to the college level,” said Brandon.
Brandon will follow former Wings players; Kyle Haak, Erik Baskin, Matt Pulver & Shawn Knowlton to the Air Force Academy. So far this season the Falcons are 2-4 overall.
