Friday Finals: Black Bears edge 1st place Tomahawks

Chris Konin had a hat-trick in a 7-2 win on Friday night as the Magicians beat Springfield.

Johnstown 2 @ Maryland 3 - A late goal in the third period lifted the Maryland Black Bears to a 3-2 win over the Johnstown Tomahawks. Connor Pooley’s second goal of the evening was the difference in the game. Daylon Mannon scored his third goal of the year for Maryland in the victory. David Tomeo was the winner in between the pipes as he made 24 saves. Samuel Solensky potted a pair of goals for Johnstown while Kade Phipps stopped 36 shots. 

Springfield 2 @ MN Magicians 7 - Three goals from Chris Konin led the Minnesota Magicians to a 7-2 win over the Springfield Jr. Blues. Cameron Buhl scored a goal and added three assists and Matthew Stanton had a goal and two assists. Jackson Jutting added a goal and assist while Ethan Haider grabbed the win in goal, making 19 saves. Max Osborne and Brandon Puricelli found the back of the net for the Jr. Blues. Caleb Hannon made 9 stops while Jack Williams made 16 saves. 
Northeast 2 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 3 - Adrian Danchenko had a goal and an assist to lead the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights to a 3-2 win over the Northeast Generals. Max Klanow and Jordan Strand also found the back of the net for the Knights. Zach Stejskal picked up the win in goal by making 35 saves. Michael Higgins and Brady Gaudette scored for the Generals while David Fessenden made 27 saves.
New Jersey 3 @ Jamestown 2 - A pair of goals from Bryce Witman spoiled the home opener for the Jamestown Rebels as the New Jersey Titans took a 3-2 decision. Cam Gendron scored what turned out to be the game winning goal in the third period for New Jersey. Matt Ladd got the win in goal as he turned aside 21 shots. Alex Frye notched a goal and an assist for the Rebels while Sam Anzai also scored for Jamestown. Ryan Keane took the loss as he made 21 saves.
Austin 4 @ Brookings 1 - Levi Stauber’s two goals paced the Austin offense in a 4-1 win over the Brookings Blizzard. Dante Sheriff had three assists while Joseph Winkelmann and Ian Mageau also found twine in the win. Brett Miller stopped 17 shots to pick up his third victory of the season. Owen Belisle scored the lone goal for Brookings and McLean Dorr made 23 saves.
Lone Star 3 @ Corpus Christi 1 - Nick Siffringer’s late third period goal proved to be the game winner for the Lone Star Brahmas as they topped the Corpus Christi IceRays 3-1. Frank Trazzera started the scoring for Lone Star while Jack Sampson put the dagger in with an empty net goal. Harrison Feeney was a brick wall in goal as he made 26 saves. Santeri Hartikainen scored the only goal for Corpus Christi and Sam Best made 25 saves in the loss.
Amarillo 1 @ Shreveport 3 - The Shreveport Mudbugs halted the Amarillo Bulls seven-game winning streak as they defeated the Bulls 3-1. Andrew Jackson led all skaters with a pair of goals and Matthew Smoliga also scored for Shreveport. Maiszon Balboa was superb as he denied 35 of 36 Amarillo shots. Cooper Fensterstock scored for the Bulls while Jason Grande made 32 stops. 
Minot 4 @ Aberdeen 3 (OT) - Fritz Belisle scored the game-winning goal at the 4:21 mark of overtime to send the Minot Minotauros into the win column over the Aberdeen Wings. Taylor Lantz, Kyle Oleksiuk and Didrik Henbrant all lit the lamp for the Minotauros. Ben Garrity was the winner in the crease as he turned aside 37 Aberdeen shots. Jonathan Bendorf tickled the twine twice and Riley Murphy also scored for the Wings. Matt Vernon took the loss despite making 30 saves.
Chippewa 2 @ Fairbanks 5 - Five different goal scorers found the back of the net for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs as they took down the Chippewa Steel 5-2. Parker Brown, Jonathan Sorenson, Noah Wilson, Luke Mobley and Matt Koethe all found themselves on the scoresheet for the Ice Dogs. Nate Reid stopped 21 shots to pick up the win between the pipes. Connor Samuel and Killian Kiecker-Olson scored for the Steel in the loss. Owen Zdunski made 21 saves.
Janesville 2 @ Kenai River 1 - Logan Ommen provided all the offense for the Janesville Jets as they doubled up the Kenai River Brown Bears 2-1. Tommy Middleton and Mason Salquist each ended the night with two helpers. Cole Brady shut the door on Kenai River as he stopped 34 of 35 shots. Ryan Reid was the only one to light the lamp for the Brown Bears while Dennis Westergard stopped 21 Janesville shots.
