Friday Finals: Brown Bears stay hot with shutout

Bismarck goalie John Roberts made 41 saves to help the Bobcats snap the Minotauros winning streak on Friday.

Chippewa 0 @ Kenai River 4 - Andy Walker’s two goals led the offense for the Kenai River Brown Bears as they rolled to a 4-0 victory in their home opener. Michael Spethmann and Logan Ritchie each scored a goal for Kenai River while Gavin Enright was perfect in between the pipes as he stopped 28 shots en route to his first shutout of the year. Owen Zdunski made 27 saves for the Steel.
 
Minot 1 @ Bismarck 3 - The Bobcats picked up two points in their home opener as they defeated Minot 3-1. Jacob Marti scored a goal and added an assist. Dawson McKay and Adam Stacho also tickled the twine for Bismarck. John Roberts was superb in goal as he made 41 saves for the Bobcats. Taylor Lantz scored the only goal for the Minotauros. Nicholas Grabko took the loss, he made 30 saves.
 
New Jersey 1 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 2 - The Knights are officially rolling as they won their third straight game, defeated the New Jersey Titans 2-1. Jacob Badal’s second goal of the season proved to be the game winning goal for the home squad. Sacha Guillemain also scored for the Knights. Zach Stejskal was great in the crease as he denied 43 Titans shots. Michael Outzen notched the only New Jersey goal while Brandon Perrone made 35 saves. 
 
Jamestown 4 @ Johnstown 1 - The Jamestown Rebels spoiled the home opener for the Johnstown Tomahawks as they took a 4-1 decision. Nick Stuckless and Lewis Crosby each scored a goal and added an assist. Konur Peterson and Noah Finstrom also lit the lamp for the Rebels. Ryan Keane got the win for Jamestown as he turned aside 27 shots. Andy Nedeljkovic got the only goal for the Tomahawks, Carter McPhail took the loss, making 19 saves.
 
MN Magicians 1 @ MN Wilderness 5 - In the first battle of Minnesota, it was the Wilderness who grabbed the victory as they defeated the Magicians 5-1. C.J. Regula potted a pair of goals for the Wilderness while Isaac Kobienia had a goal and an assist. Nate Horn and Jacob Herter both found the back of the net as well. Kaleb Johnson got the win in between the pipes, he made 21 saves. Carter Breitenfeldt scored the lone goal for the Magicians and Mitchell James stopped 32 of 37 shots.
 
Topeka 5 @ Springfield 4 - The Pilots were able to survive a furious Springfield rally and escape with a 5-4 victory on Friday night. Matthew Francois scored twice for Topeka while Kyler Yeo and Michael Muschitiello each had a goal and an assist. Dallas Tulik also scored for the Pilots and Emil Gransoe picked up the win in net, making 24 saves. Nick Techel scored twice for Springfield, Giovanni Carabelli and Jonathan Panisa also scored for the Jr. Blues. Jack Williams took the loss despite making 28 saves.
 
Brookings 2 @ Aberdeen 6 - Joe Strada’s four point effort led the way for the Aberdeen Wings as they trounced division rival Brookings 6-2. Brad Belisle, John Sladic, Thomas Rocco and Jonathan Bendorf all found the scoresheet for the Wings. Matt Vernon was the winner in net tonight as he made 22 stops. Luck Aquaro and Sam Antenucci picked up goals for the Blizzard while McLean Dorr made 33 saves in the loss.
 
Janesville 4 @ Fairbanks 2 - The Janesville Jets spoiled the home opener for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs as they skated away with a 4-2 victory. Austin Koss, Justin Engelkes, Jack Vincent and Erik Palmqvist all scored for Janesville. Matthew Doyle led all Jets skaters with two points. Garrett Nieto made 20 saves for Janesville while Cole Brady stopped all seven shots he faced. Parker Brown and John Stampohar scored for the home team. George McBey took the loss in goal as he made 13 saves.
