Johnstown forward Kraemer makes NCAA DI commitment

June 28, 2018
The Johnstown Tomahawks, proud members of the North American Hockey League, have announced that forward Roman Kraemer has committed to Division I Robert Morris University for the 2019-20 season.

Kraemer, a native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, put together a stellar rookie season in Johnstown, collecting 21 goals and 17 assists in 59 games played. For his efforts, Kraemer (5'10/190) earned the team's Rookie of the Year award as well as the Fan Favorite award. He was also named to the NAHL's East Division All-Rookie Team.

I'm extremely proud of Roman for earning this opportunity to play Division 1 hockey at Robert Morris," Tomahawks head coach, Mike Letizia, said. "They have continued to prove to be one of the top programs in college hockey and they are getting a top notch hockey player and person who I think still has his best hockey ahead of him. Roman was outstanding as a rookie for us this season and really showed what he has the ability to do. "

"I am especially proud of him as he went through the grind and process to become part of our team and receiving this opportunity. He attended our pre-draft camp in Pittsburgh in the summer of 2016 and made a big impression with me. We then had him play affiliate games for us that season(2016-2017) where he showed how good he could be, followed by a tender, and then becoming our Rookie of the Year this past season (2017-2018). Now to receive the opportunity to play Division 1 hockey in his hometown is just icing on the cake and I could not be happier of him and his family with this accomplishment."

Kraemer represented the East Division at the 2018 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament, registering two goals and one assist.

Located in Moon Township (a Pittsburgh suburb), RMU competes in the Atlantic Hockey Conference. Kraemer joins former Tomahawks forward Luke Lynch on the Colonials.
