The Shreveport Mudbugs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are pleased to announce that forward Jacob Holmers has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Aurora University.
Holmers, 20, just completed his second and final season playing in the NAHL for the Robertson Cup Champion Mudbugs. The 5’10/190 lbs. native of Plymouth, Minnesota, recorded 15 points in 41 regular season games during the 2017-18 regular season. He also played in all 13 Robertson Cup Playoff games helping Shreveport to the Championship.
Holmers joined the Mudbugs during the 2016-17 season after playing three seasons of high school hockey in Minnesota for the Benilde-St. Margaret's School. In 89 career NAHL regular season games, Holmers recorded 27 points.
“We are very excited for Jacob and want to wish him best of luck. Aurora program is on the rise and they are getting a great player. Two years ago, Jacob made our team as free agent and been working very hard since and helped us to bring Robertson Cup to Shreveport,” said Mudbugs head coach Karlis Zirnis.
