Shreveport defenseman Lane makes NCAA DI commitment

June 8, 2018

Shreveport defenseman Andrew Lane played in every single regular season and playoff game this past season.

The Shreveport Mudbugs, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Andrew Lane has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Alaska-Anchorage in the WCHA.
Lane, 21, just completed his second and final season playing in the NAHL for the Robertson Cup Champion Mudbugs. The 5’9/170 lbs. native of Howell, Michigan, played in all 60 games during the 2017-18 regular season, recording 32 points (4 goals, 28 assists).
He was also selected to and played in the 2018 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the South Division team.
In two years of experience playing in the NAHL, Lane recorded 48 points in 110 career games.
“Andrew is a true competitor. Andrew was one of our first tenders as an expansion team and has helped to bring hockey back to the great fans of Shreveport. He has suffered injuries and adversities, but never stopped working hard and believing in playing NCAA hockey. We are very proud of Andrew’s opportunity with Alaska-Anchorage and wish him all the best,” said Mudbugs head coach Karlis Zirnis.
Prior to playing for the Mudbugs, Lane played high school hockey in Michigan for Detroit Catholic Central.
He is the 11th Mudbugs player during the 2017-18 season that has made an NCAA commitment.
