Springfield forward Schultze makes NCAA commitment

April 4, 2018
The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Nick Schultze has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey for Tufts University in Medford MA, starting this coming fall.

Schultze, 20, is competing in his final season of junior hockey and his first season playing in the NAHL. The 5’10/170 lbs. native of San Diego, California, has totalled 31 points (14 goals, 17 assists) in 61 NAHL games this season.

Schultze began the season with the Topeka RoadRunners, but was traded to the Jr. Blues in late January. While with Springfield, he has recorded 13 points in 21 games played, and with Topeka he recorded 18 points in 40 games played.

“Nick has been everything we thought he would when we traded for him,” said Jr. Blues Head Coach Tyler Rennette. “He is a great kid and Tufts is getting an excellent student athlete who will make everyone around him better.”

Prior to playing in the NAHL, Schultze spent a season playing junior hockey in Canada and prior to that spent time with both the Anaheim Jr. Ducks and San Diego Gulls youth organizations.
