Friday Finals: Jr. Blues snap Ice Dogs point streak

With three more points in a 6-2 win on Friday, Jakov Novak become the all-time single-season points leader in Janesville Jets history. His 63 points currently leads the NAHL in scoring.

Springfield 5 @ Fairbanks 3 - The 33-game point streak is over for the Ice Dogs as the Springfield Jr. Blues took down Fairbanks by a score of 5-3. Brandon Puricelli’s two goals and two assists led the way for Springfield while Patrick Smyth scored two goals as well. Marcus Walter netted the other Jr. Blues goal. Jurja Overcka denied 26 Fairbanks shots and picked up his 10th win of the year. Kyle Mayhew had a goal and an assist for Fairbanks. Luke Orysiuk and Noah Wilson also scored for the Ice Dogs.

Janesville 6 @ Kenai River 2 - The league’s leading scorer was making it look easy again as Jakov Novak scored two goals and added an assist to set the Janesville record for most points in a single season. Matt Hanewall scored once and assisted twice for Janesville while Brenden MacLaren, Matt Barbolini each had a goal and an assist. Jack Vincent also scored for the Jets. Garrett Nieto scooped up the win in goal by making 19 saves. Michael Spethmann and Joe Rosa scored for the Brown Bears in the loss. Gavin Enright made 28 saves for Kenai River.

Johnstown 2 @ New Jersey 7 - Seven different Titans found the back of the net as New Jersey grabbed a 7-2 win over Johnstown. Ryan Naumovski, Matthew Cameron and Nick Boyagain each scored and had an assist in the win. Eric Manoukian, Spencer Stanley, Chris Garbe and Zachary Faremouth also found themselves on the scoresheet. Matt Ladd picked up the win in goal.

Wilkes/Barre-Scranton 0 @ Philadelphia 3 - The Philadelphia continued their hot streak as they shutout the Wilkes/Barre-Scranton Knights 3-0 on Friday night. Ryan Keane was a perfect 24-for-24 in the crease for Philadelphia. Peter Zhong, Aaron Maguyon and Ryan Patrick scored for Philadelphia in the victory.

MN Magicians 1 @ Coulee Region 2 -  Tomas Vochozka’s goal late in the second period proved to be the difference as the Chill held on to beat the Minnesota Magicians 2-1. Brandon Koch had the other goal for Coulee Region while Emil Zetterquist made 25 saves to earn the win. Cameron Buhl scored for the Magicians.

Corpus Christi 2 @ Amarillo 3 - The Amarillo Bulls picked up a crucial win on Friday night as they defeated the Corpus Christi IceRays 3-2. Brenden Datema, Alex Peterson and Trey Bagwell lit the lamp for Amarillo. Trevor Micucci was excellent in net as he made 23 saves on 25 shots. For the IceRays, Blake Coffey and Garrett Hallford scored while Chad Veltri made 38 saves.                  

Brookings 4 @ Austin 5 - Alex Mella’s third period tally gave the Austin Bruins just enough to edge the Brookings Blizzard 5-4. Dan Petrick found the back of the net twice while Xander Lamppa and Che Landikusic also scored for the Bruins. Alex Schilling came on in relief and didn't allow a goal in his 20 minutes of action. Derek Hammer potted a pair of goals while Josh Boyer and Max Sasson scored for Brookings.

Lone Star 4 @ Odessa 3 - The defending Robertson Cup champions will get a shot at protecting their title as a 4-3 victory over the Jackalopes puts them back in the playoffs. Emack Bentley, Justin Addamo, Owen Farris and Jon Russell all scored for Lone Star in the victory. Mitchell Gibson stopped 28 of 31 shots throw his way. Zach Heintz, Blake Bride, and Jared Christy netted goals for the Jackalopes.

Topeka 2 @ Shreveport 6 - The South Division leading Mudbugs showed why they are a top contender for the Robertson Cup as they cruised to a 6-2 win over the Topeka RoadRunners. Ryan Burnett lead all skaters with four points on the night. Jake Transit scored a pair of goals and Jordan Fader scored a goal and had an assist. Jack Clement also had a goal and an assist to go with goals by Brendan VanSweden and Cole Quisenberry. Jaxon Castor made 10 saves for the win in Shreveport. Nigel Nelson and Brendan Schultz scored the two goals for Topeka.                         

Aberdeen 4 @ Bismarck 1 - Zach Noble’s two goals and one assist led the Aberdeen offense to a 4-1 road victory against the Bismarck Bobcats. Nathan Burke also a scored a pair of goals in the victory. Matt Vernon turned aside 22 shots for the win. Alex Pollock scored the lone goal for Bismarck while John Roberts made 32 saves for the home team.

MN Wilderness 2 @ Minot 4 - The Minotauros keep inching their way toward the playoffs as they now find themselves just two points out of the playoff picture after a 4-2 win over the Minnesota Wilderness. Miroslav Mucha continued his stellar play as he had two goals and two assists. Grant Loven scored a goal and also had a pair of assists in the win. Alex Adams also scored for the Minotauros. Nick Grabko picked up the victory in his first NAHL game. Nathan Horn and Edward Lindelow scored for Minnesota and Ryan Fanti made 34 saves.
