Saturday Scores: Wings create separation with sweep

Topeka RoadRunners defenseman Matt Barnes had a big weekend to help his team pick up a weekend home sweep of the Amarillo Bulls.

Austin 0 @ Aberdeen 3 - The Aberdeen Wings created some separation from the Austin Bruins in the Central Division as they finished off a sweep in which they didn't allow a goal. Nathan Burke potted a pair of goals in the victory, John Sladic also scored for the Wings as they now have a six point lead in the Central Division. Gabe Vinal was excellent for the Wings as he turned aside all 29 shots thrown his way by the Bruins. Mads Sogaard made 33 saves for Austin.

Odessa 4 @ Corpus Christi 2 - The Odessa Jackalopes took down the Corpus Christi IceRays, 4-2, to complete a weekend road sweep. Matt Brown, James Crossman and Ricky Carballo all had a goal and an assist each with Blake Bride also getting in on the scoring action as well. Brett Epp earned the win in between the pipes by stopping 35 shots. Rylee St. Onge scored both goals for the IceRays. Chad Veltri made 36 saves in a losing effort.

Amarillo 1 @ Topeka 4 - The RoadRunners picked up a weekend sweep with the Amarillo Bulls. Justin Kelley, Chad Hildebrand, Jakub Urbanek and Nick Schultz all scored to propel the offense to success. Emil Gransoe made 25 saves for Topeka and picked up the win in between the pipes. Jason Brancheau was the only Bull to find the scoresheet and Jason Grande made 25 saves while Trevor Micucci stopped all 11 shots he faced.

Kenai River 0 @ Lone Star 5 - It was all Lone Star, as the Brahmas took care of the Kenai River Brown Bears 5-0. Ture Linden led all skaters with three points (one goal and two assists) Jakub Sirota had a goal and an assist while Emack Bentley, Steven Ipri and Owen Farris all took a trip to red light district as well. Harrison Feeney picked up his first shutout of the season by stopping all 15 shots thrown his way.

Fairbanks 1 @ Shreveport 2 (SO) - Derek Contessa’s goal in the seventh round of the shootout ended the Fairbanks Ice Dogs 24-game winning streak. Cole Quisenberry scored the only goal of regulation for the Mudbugs as they split the series. Jack Johnston netted a goal for Fairbanks and Logan Neaton made 26 saves. Jaxon Castor stopped 29 shots and all seven shooters in the shootout en route to his fifth win of the season.

Philadelphia 0 @ New Jersey 4 - Ryan Naumovski’s three points carried the New Jersey Titans to a 4-0 win over the Philadelphia Rebels. Matt Ladd stopped all 23 shots he saw to pick up his first shutout. Andrew Husted, Gavin Gulash and Zachary Faremouth each netted a goal in the victory, Eli Billing took the loss for the Rebels as he made 24 saves.

Northeast 3 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 4 (SO) - Matt Kidney tied the game in the third period, then he won the game with a shootout. Mike Gelatt scored a goal and had an assist in the victory. Reed Robinson also lit the lamp in regulation. Christian Stoever made 38 saves, that doesn't include stopping four shooters in the shootout. Louis Boudon, Matt Demelis, Alex Cohen all scored for the Generals. Marko Sturma made 54 saves for Northeast.

Coulee Region 2 @ MN Magicians 3 (OT) - Seven seconds was all it took for Arturas Laukaiis to bury the game-winning goal for the Magicians. Bram Scheerer and Charlie Weiand scored in regulation for Minnesota. Isaiah Saville was magnificent as he made 37 saves for Minnesota. Nick Bowman had a goal and an assist for the Chill while Louis Helson also scored for Coulee. Emil Zetterquist stopped 23 shots in the loss.

Janesville 6 @ Springfield 3 - Tanner Polglaze’s two goals paced the Janesville offense as they topped the Springfield Jr. Blues. Jakov Novak and Sam Renlund each had a goal and an assist. Benji Eckerle and Kip Hoffman also found the back of the net. Daniel Lebedeff made 28 saves to pick up the win in goal. Nikita Kozyrev, Spencer DenBeste and Brandon Puricelli all lit the lamp in a losing effort.

Minot 0 @ Brookings 3 - Adam Brizgala shut down the Minot Minotaurs offense as he made 36 saves to pick up the victory and shutout. Josh Boyer netted a pair of goals while Connor Koviak scored as well for the Blizzard. Jack Robbel made 24 saves for the Minotauros.

Bismarck 4 @ MN Wilderness 1 - Bismarck was able to pickup a weekend split as they defeated the Minnesota Wilderness 4-1. Andrew Bellant and Michael Mahan each had a goal and an assist. Mitchell Walinski and Grant Johnson also scored for the Bobcats. Ryan Ullan was nearly perfect as he stopped 32 of 33 Minnesota shots. C. J. Regula scored the lone goal for the Wilderness while Ryan Fanti stopped 18 shots for the Wilderness.
