Saturday Scores: Tomahawks keep playoff hopes alive with sweep

Austin Bruins goalie Mads Sogaard stopped 55 of 56 shots in a weekend sweep of Minot.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 2 @ Johnstown 3 - Three different Tomahawks were able to light the lamp as Johnstown finished off the sweep of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights, this time winning 3-2. Roman Kraemer, Pavel Karin and Ben Schmidling all got on the scoresheet. Jack Leavy was fantastic in goal, stopping 35 of 37 shots. Adrian Danchenko had a goal and an assist for the Knight and Reed Robinson also scored. David Tomeo made 19 saves.

Fairbanks 3 @ Lone Star 2 - The Ice Dogs extended their winning streak to 23 games as they finished off the sweep of the Brahmas with a 3-2 win. Daniel Haider scored a goal and had an assist. Noah Wilson and Caleb Hite also found the back of the net in the victory. Logan Neaton made 20 saves to preserve the streak for Fairbanks. Ture Linden had a goal and an assist for the Brahmas. Kyle Hallbauer also scored in the loss. Mitchell Gibson made 8 saves while Harrison Feeney stopped 12 shots for Lone Star.

Minot 0 @ Austin 2 - Mads Sogaard was perfect in the crease and he got enough offense to win his 11th game of the year. Josef Mysak and Valdemar Ahlberg provided the offense for the Bruins as they now sit just two points out of first place in the Central Division. Samu Lonkila wasn't given any run support as he made 24 saves in the loss.

Kenai River 1 @ Shreveport 4 - Three points from Cole Quisenberry helped the Mudbugs win their 14th straight game on home ice as they knocked off Kenai River 4-1. Jordan Fader and Jack Clement had a goal and an assist in the series sweeping game. Cameron Cook also scored for the Mudbugs. Gustavs Grigals got the win in goal as he made 21 saves. Filip Karlsson scored the only goal for the Brown Bears.

Philadelphia 4 @ New Jersey 0 - Ryan Patrick’s four point night led the Philadelphia Rebels to a 4-0 victory over the New Jersey Titans. Patrick scored once and assisted on the three other goals. Carson Moniz had a goal and an assist while Adam Peck and Jensen Zerban also found the back of the net. Eli Billing was a perfect 15-for-15 in between the pipes and picked up his third shutout of the year. Matt Ladd made 20 saves for the Titans.

Janesville 0 @ Coulee Region 1 (OT) - Quinn Warmuth’s first goal as a member of Coulee Region was a big one as it gave his team a 1-0 overtime victory over the Janesville Jets. Emil Zetterquist was sensational as he turned aside all 43 Janesville shots to earn his second shutout of the season. Garrett Nieto was great in his own right as he made 32 saves in the loss.

MN Magicians 2 @ Springfield 1 (OT)  - For the third straight night, 60 minutes was not enough for the Magicians and Jr. Blues. John Keranen’s goal at 2:44 of overtime gave the Magicians the Saturday night victory. Davis Kirkendall also found twin for the Magicians in the win and Isaiah Saville stopped 29 of 30 shots. Brandon Puricelli scored the lone goal for the Jr. Blues and Even Fear made 25 saves.

MN Wilderness 5 @ Brookings 3 - Isaac Kobienia had two goals and an assist to lead the Minnesota Wilderness past the Brookings Blizzard 5-3. Colin Barid, Ben Ward and Alex Truscott also provided offense for the Wilderness in their win. Ryan Fanti made 19 saves in the blue paint for Minnesota. Doug Larson, Josh Boyer, and Carson Kosobud all had a goal and an assist for Brookings. Adam Brizgala was dealt the loss as he made 20 saves.

Amarillo 2 @ Corpus Christi 4 - Angus Scott’s two goals helped spark the Corpus Christi offense as the IceRays doubled up the Amarillo Bulls 4-2. Adam Kadlec and Brendan Miller also scored for Corpus in the win. Chad Veltri picked up his 16th in goal for the IceRays. Jason Grande was stuck with the loss despite stopping 30 shots. Stephen Rex and Brenden Datema scored the goals for the Bulls.

Aberdeen 2 @ Bismarck 1 (OT) - Dalton Weigel’s breakaway goal lifted the Aberdeen Wings to a 2-1 overtime win over the Bismarck Bobcats. Adam Pitters scored the only goal in regulation for the Wings, who picked up the series split this weekend. Gabe Vinal wasn't tested often as he only had to make 16 saves but it was enough to earn his 14th win of the year. Mitchell Walinski netted the only Bismarck goal of the night and John Roberts got the tough luck loss as he made 41 saves.
