Friday Finals: Tomhawks knock off 1st place Rebels

Josh Boyer had a hat-trick to help Brookings snap their losing skid with a 4-2 win in Bismarck on Friday.

Philadelphia 2 @ Johnstown 3 - The Tomahawks pulled off a big win over the Philadelphia Rebels as Carson Briere and Christian Gorscak each scored a goal and had an assist. Mitchell Hale also scored for the Tomahawks in the win. Kade Phipps earned his seventh win of the season as he made 22 saves. Carson Moniz and Aaron Maguyon scored for the Rebels in the loss while Eli Billing made 18 saves.

New Jersey 3 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 5  - Reed Robinson’s three points carried the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights to a 5-3 victory over the New Jersey Titans. Jack Olmstead scored a pair of goals as well for the Knights. Michael Morrissey had a goal and an assist. David Tomeo stood on his head and made 49 saves to pick up his ninth win of the year. Tate Singleton notched a goal and an assist for New Jersey while Kyler Head and Todd Goehring also found the back of the net. Brandon Perrone made 37 saves.

Odessa 6 @ Amarillo 3 - Blake Bride scored two goals and Zach Heintz had a goal and an assisting the Jackalopes 6-3 win over the Bulls. James Crossman also had a goal and an assist for Odessa while Ricky Carballo and Jared Christy also scored for the Jacks. CJ Hapward made 34 saves in his NAHL debut to pick up the win. Trey Bagwell, Quinn Warmuth and Jason Brancheau all scored for Amarillo. Trevor Micucci made 34 saves in the loss.

Shreveport 6 @ Corpus Christi 2 - The league’s top team was dominant on Friday night as they took down the IceRays 6-2. Jack Clement scored a pair of goals for Shreveport while Kieran Durgan and Jake Transit had a goal and an assist. Jonatan Asplund and Ryan Burnett also scored in the win. Gustavs Grigals made 17 shots to earn the victory in goal for Shreveport. Brendan Miller and Larry Jungwirth scored the only goals for Corpus Christi. Jake Acton turned aside 35 shots.

Janesville 2 @ MN Magicians 3 - The Minnesota Magicians snapped the Janesville Jets six game winning streak as they snagged a 3-2 victory on home ice. Ethan DeStafani and Cullen McCabe scored a goal and had an assist. Kyler Grundy also scored for the Magicians. Conor Kiaers earned his first win by making 38 saves. Brenden MacLaren and Jakov Novak found the back of the net for Janesville. Daniel Lebedeff made 25 saves for the Jets.

MN Wilderness 2 @ Aberdeen 3 - The Aberdeen Wings continued their hot streak as they defeated the Wilderness 3-2. John Sladic found twine twice in the Wings win and added an assist on Nic Sicoly’s goal. Sicoly finished the game with a goal and two assists. Gabe Vinal earned the victory as he made 27 saves. Nick Altmann and Ondrej Trejbal scored for the Wilderness as Ryan Fanti made 37 saves.

Brookings 4 @ Bismarck 2 - The Brookings Blizzard put an end to their losing streak as they doubled up the Bismarck Bobcats 4-2. Josh Boyer’s hat trick carried the offense for Brookings and Haiden Karnick also contributed for the Blizzard. Adam Brizgala stopped 32 shots in his first NAHL game, picking up his first victory as well. Ryan Ullan made 17 saves for Bismarck while Jacob Marti and Cooper Haar scored for the Bobcats.

Austin 4 @ Minot 3 (OT) - Travis Kothenbeutel did all the work by himself in overtime as he lifted the Austin Bruins to a come-from-behind victory over the Minot Minotauros. The game winner was Kothenbeutel’s second goal of the game and he finished with three points. Lane Krenzen and Xander Lamppa also scored for the Bruins in the win. Alex Schilling made 17 saves to earn the win in goal. Alex Adams, Rykr Cole and David Raisanen all scored for Minot and Jack Robbel made 25 saves.

Lone Star 4 @ Kenai River 3 - The recent additions to the Brahmas are becoming a major factor for the defending Robertson Cup Champions. Jon Russell and Steven Ipri combined for five points as Russell potted a pair of goals and assisted on another. Ipri scored a goal and an assist. Justin Addamo also scored and had an assist. Mitchell Gibson got the win in relief as he stopped 34 of 35 Kenai River shots. David Kaplan, Emils Ezitis, and Markuss Komuls all scored for the Brown Bears. Gaven Enright also made 34 saves.

Coulee Region 3 @ Fairbanks 4 (OT) - Erkka Vanska blasted home the game winner on the power play as the Ice Dogs picked up their 12th straight victory. The game winner was Vanska’s second of the game and 17th of the year. Jax Murray also netted two goals for the Ice Dogs, he now has nine goals on the season. Josh Benson only had to make 11 saves to pick up the win in goal. Nick Bowman, Andrew McGlynn and Matt Hines scored for the Chill in the loss. Emil Zetterquist made 34 saves in a losing effort.
