Friday Finals: Brown Bears return home and snap skid
Coulee Region 2 @ Kenai River 3 - The Brown Bears returned home and snapped a six game winless streak as they outlasted Coulee Region 3-2. Luke Radetic, David Kaplan and Sutton McDonald all scored for the home team. Gavin Enright earned the victory by making 21 saves. For the Chill, Andrew McGlynn and Kevin Bryant found the back of the net. Emil Zetterquist stopped 29 of 32 Kenai River shots.
Northeast 4 @ Johnstown 1 - Colin Bilek’s hat trick led the Northeast Generals over the Johnstown Tomahawks in Friday night action. Mike Egan also scored for the Generals in the win and Louis Boudon had two assists. Marko Sturma picked up the win in net as he made 23 saves. Toby Senvongxay scored the only goal for the Tomahawks while Kade Phipps made 17 saves.
Amarillo 1 @ Corpus Christi 4 - The IceRays picked up a 4-1 win over the Amarillo Bulls as Larry Jungwirth picked up three points, two goals and one assist. Dakota Concannon and Rylee St. Onge also scored for Corpus Christi. Jake Acton allowed just one goal on 34 shots for his third win of the year. Josh Deluca scored for Amarillo while Trevor Micucci and Jason Grande combined for 22 saves.
Springfield 1 @ Janesville 2 - Tanner Polglaze scored with three minutes remaining to lift the Jets to a 2-1 victory over Springfield. Jakov Novak also scored for Janesville in the win. Beni Eckerle, John Pesek, Sam Renlund and Reid Hill all tallied assists for the Jets. Garret Nieto turned aside 24 shots to pick up his 12th win of the year. Ethan Stewart scored his 13th goal of the season in the loss and Jurja Ovecka made 37 saves for Springfield.
Brookings 2 @ Austin 3 (SO) - Jaden Shields netted the game deciding goal in the shootout to propel the Austin Bruins to their fourth straight win. Shields also scored in regulation for Austin and Dominic Skrelja picked up his first goal of the year. Mads Sogaard stopped 34 of 36 shots to pick up the win in net. Max Sasson and Jimmy Elser scored for the Blizzard. Zachary Borgiel stopped 36 shots for Brookings.
Minot 1 @ MN Wilderness 3 - Edward Lindelow scored twice and the Minnesota Wilderness got back into the win column as they took down the Minot Minotauros 3-1. Josh Fricks scored his 5th goal of the season for the Wilderness and Ryan Fanti denied 32 Minot shots. Austin Dollimer’s ninth of the season was the only goal for Minot and Samu Lonkila stopped 36 shots for the Tauros.
Topeka 1 @ Shreveport 3 - The Mudbugs improved to 8-1-1 over their last 10 games as they knocked off Topeka 3-1. Dominick Procopio, Cameron Cook and Kieran Durgan all scored in the win for Shreveport. James Durham remained red hot as he stopped 15 of 16 shots to pick up his 14th win of the year. Jeremy Gabriele tallied the only goal for the RoadRunners and Sam Metcalf made 18 saves.
Bismarck 2 @ Aberdeen 5 - The Wings won their fifth game in a row as Aberdeen defeated the Bismarck Bobcats 5-2. Joe Strada and Colton Fletcher each scored a goal and had an assist. John Sladic, Evan Rochowiak and Zach Noble all scored as well in the win for the Wings. Gabe Vinal got the win in between the pipes as he made 18 saves. Aiden Gallacher and Alex Trombley found the back of the net for Bismarck and Jake Roberts made 19 stops for the Bobcats.
Lone Star 1 @ Fairbanks 3 - Two early goals were enough for the Ice Dogs to pick up the win over the Lone Star Brahmas on Friday night. Samuel Ruffin and Luke Orysiuk scored 33 seconds apart to give Fairbanks an early two goal cushion. Steven Ipri scored his first as a Brahma in the second but that’s as close as Lone Star would get as Erkka Vanska would grab an empty netter in the final seconds. Josh Benson stopped 24 shots to pick up his league leading 15th win of the year. Mitchell Gibson suffered the loss despite allowing just two goals on 17 shots.
