Saturday Scores: Wings roll to sweep

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton forward Adrian Danchanko had a big weekend to help the Knights to a sweep of Kenai River.

Brookings 3 @ Aberdeen 7 - Two goals and two assists from Nathan Burke propelled the Aberdeen Wings to a 7-3 win over the Brookings Blizzard. Joe Strada scored a goal and two assists and John Sladic had a goal and an assist. Colton Fletcher, Nic Sicoly and Evan Rochowiak all scored as well for the Wings. Matt Vernon picked up the win between the pipes as he made 32 saves. Parker Revering had a goal and an assist for Brookings while Josh Boyer and Haiden Karnick scored as well.

Kenai River 1 @ Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 5 - Adrian Danchenko’s three points led the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights to a 5-1 victory over the Kenai River Brown Bears. Jack Olmstead and Gabe Temple each scored and had an assist in the victory. Curtis Carlson also scored for the Knights while Christian Stoever stopped 32 of 33 shots to pick up his 11th win of the year. Markuss Komuls scored the lone goal for Kenai River and Gavin Enright made 36 saves.

Austin 3 @ MN Wilderness 7 - Luke Dow exploded for two goals and two assists as the Wilderness took care of the Austin Bruins 7-3 on Saturday night. Eric Gotz scored once and assisted on two other goals in the win. Gino Lucia and Nicholas Michel each had a goal and an assist for the Wilderness. Isaac Kobienia and Colin Baird grabbed a goal as well. Ryan Fanti picked up another win as he turned aside 27 of 30 Austin shots. For the Bruins, Alex Mella, Riley Doyon and Evan Cholak scored in the loss.

Odessa 3 @ Amarillo 2 - Petr Miko’s goal with 3:01 remaining in regulation turned out to be the game winner for the Odessa Jackalopes. Matt Brown and Evan Somoza scored for Odessa while Brett Epp made 37 saves en route to his ninth win of the year. Gleb Murtazin and Brendan Michaelian scored for the Bulls in the loss. Jason Grande made 22 saves for Amarillo

Bismarck 1 @ Minot 6 - The Minot Minotauros may not want 2017 to end as the offense has been red hot. After scoring five goals in Friday’s win, they scored six in their second win of the weekend. Colby Enns was the catalyst tonight as he scored twice and added two assists. Grant Loven and Rykr Cole each had a goal and an assist while Fritz Belisle and Jake Rosenbaum also scored for Minot. Jack Robbel picked up his fifth win of the season as he made 29 saves.

Fairbanks 2 @ Johnstown 1 - Jack Johnston’s third period goal proved to be the game winner as the Ice Dogs outlasted the Tomahawks by a score of 2-1. Ty Proffitt scored the game’s opening goal in the first period with assists going to Hunter Wendt and Jake Willets. Samuel Ruffin and Jax Murray also picked up helpers for Fairbanks. Mitchell Hale scored the only goal for Johnstown with the assists going to Carson Briere and Carter Dwyer. Josh Benson stopped 19 of 20 Tomahawk shots to earn the win while Kade Phipps made 24 saves on 26 shots.

Springfield 3 @ Topeka 2 - The Springfield Jr. Blues took a 3-2 decision over the Topeka RoadRunners as Fabio Hollenstein scored a goal and an assist. Giovanni Carabelli and Nick Rogers also scored for the Jr. Blues. Evan Fear locked up his eighth win of the season by making 37 saves. Dallas Tulik scored both goals for the RoadRunners. Dylan Rauh picked up an assist. Sam Metcalf was dealt the loss, stopping 26 of 29 shots.
