Saturday Scores: Chill sweep and win third straight

Nathan Burke had a big weekend for the Aberdeen Wings in their weekend road sweep in Minot.

Brookings 2 @ Coulee Region 4 - The hats hit the ice at the Green Island Ice Arena as Connor Szmul’s three goals led the Coulee Region Chill to a weekend sweep of the Brookings Blizzard. Tomas Vochozka got his first goal of the season in the win. Emil Zetterquist won his fourth win of the season as he denied 35 Brookings shots. Parker Revering also scored his first goal in this contest while Josh Boyer notched his sixth of the year for Brookings. Benjamin Beck fell to 3-3 after stopping 33 of 36 shots.

Aberdeen 7 @ Minot 1 - Nathan Burke’s two goals and two assists propelled the Aberdeen offense to a seven goal outburst as they finished off a weekend sweep of the Minotauros. John Sladic also had a four point night, one goal and 3 assists. Nic Sicoly notched a goal and two assists while Zach Noble, and Jack Kelly each registered a goal and an assist. Joe Strada also scored in the win. Gabe Vinal had a relatively easy night only having to stop 15 shots. Andrew Kangas scored the only goal for Minot.

Austin 2 @ Bismarck 1 - For the second straight night, the Bruins found themselves on the right side of 2-1 contest. Justin Brandt’s goal with just 5:43 remaining was the difference in this one. Travis Kothenbeutel scored his fourth of the season. Alex Schilling won his second game of the weekend for the Bruins, allowing just one goal for the second straight game and making 27 saves. Alex Pollock had the lone Bobcats goal and John Roberts made 14 saves in the loss.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 3 @ Northeast 2 - Jack Olmstead’s goal at the 9:27 mark of the third period held as the game winning goal as the Knights took down the first place Generals. Olmstead finished the night with two points, so did Tyrone Bronte, who also had a goal and an assist. Justin Engelkes also scored for the Knights in the win. David Tomeo stopped 24 shots on goal to pick up his fourth win of the season. Joseph Mancuso and Mike Egan both scored in the loss. Marko Sturma was given the loss as he stopped 23 of 26 shots.

Fairbanks 1 @ Kenai River 2 (OT) - Gabriel Wahl’s overtime goal lifted Kenai River past their in-state rival, the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. The tally came at the 2:17 mark of overtime and was also a power play goal. Luke Radetic scored on the power play with just over three minutes left to tie the game. Gavin Enright was the number one star of the game as he made 32 saves. The only Fairbanks goal came off the stick of Daniel Vader. Logan Neaton made 14 saves in the loss.

New Jersey 3 @ Johnstown 4 - Samuel Solensky’s three point night led the way as the Tomahawks knocked off the Titans 4-3. Andy Nedeljkovic and Mitchell Hale each scored a goal and had an assist. Joe Kile also scored for the Tomahawks. Jack Leavy scored the win in the crease, he made 27 saves. Hunter Alden and Tyler Antoncci each had a goal and an assist for the Titans. Spencer Stanley also found the back of the net. Matt Ladd was stuck with the loss as he made 25 saves.

MN Magicians 1 @ Janesville 2 - The Janesville Jets were able to salvage a split in their weekend series as they held off the Magicians 2-1. Reid Hill scored in the first period for Janesville and John Pesek notched the eventual game winner in the seconds period, it was his third of the season. Jarrett Lee’s fifth tally of the year was the lone goal for the Magicians. Garrett Nieto ended the night by stopping 19 of 20 while Minnesota goaltender Isaiah Saville stopped 33 saves in a loss.

Springfield 7 @ MN Wilderness 2 - Seven different players scored for Springfield as the Jr. Blues erupted in a 7-2 win over the Wilderness. Chase Mickelson led all skaters with four points, a goal and three assists. Jeff Skinner netted a goal and two assists while Nikita Kozyrev, Max Brainin, Bradley Marek and Ethan Stewart all had a goal and an assist. Fabio Hollenstein also scored for the Jr. Blues. Evan Fear picked up the win between the pipes, he stopped 27 of 29 shots. Luke Dow and Garrett Worth lit the lamp for the Wilderness. Ryan Fanti got the loss in goal as he made 24 saves.

Corpus Christi 4 @ Topeka 1 - The RoadRunners got the first goal of the game but it was all Corpus Christi from that point on. The IceRays scored four unanswered goals en route to a 4-1 decision over Topeka. C.J. Regula and Rylee St. Onge each scored their first goals of the season. Garrett Hallford and Larry Jungwirth picked up their fifth and fourth goals respectively. Chad Veltri picked up the win by making 27 saves. Nick Schultze got the only goal for Topeka, Connor Murphy stopped 31 shots.
