Fairbanks defenseman Schaeffer makes NCAA DI commitment

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Nolan Schaeffer has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at Robert Morris University, members of Atlantic Hockey.
Schaeffer, 20, is in his fourth and final season playing junior hockey, with the past two seasons being with the Ice Dogs. The native of Marshall, Minnesota, is off to a good start this season with four assists in eight games played.
Schaeffer (6’3/220) spent the entire 2016-17 season with the Ice Dogs, recording 13 points in 53 regular season games.
Schaeffer also has experience playing in the NAHL for the Minnesota Magicians and Coulee Region Chill. He spent the entire 2014-15 season with the Magicians and made his NAHL debut with the Chill in the Spring of 2014. He also spent a season in the USHL with the Fargo Force prior to his arrival in Fairbanks.
Overall in 108 career NAHL games, Schaeffer has recorded 32 points.
“Nolan has fully earned this opportunity. We are very excited to see him continue to develop this season in preparation for college hockey,” said Fairbanks head coach Trevor Stewart.
