IceRays launch Hurricane Harvey relief virtual sellout

September 1, 2017
The Corpus Christi IceRays, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), have announced their efforts to assist the recovery and rebuilding process throughout the Coastal Bend following Hurricane Harvey with the IceRays’ Harvey Relief Virtual Sellout.

The Harvey Relief Virtual Sellout is a donation-based incentive drive centered around donating funds directly helping victims and areas while providing an outlet for the people of the Coastal Bend for a specific upcoming IceRays game. The objective is to create a hub for members of the hockey community, those outside of the Coastal Bend and around the area to join efforts in assisting those in need from Hurricane Harvey.

“From day one, the IceRays have been a community-first organization focused on giving back to the greater Corpus Christi area,” said IceRays General Manager Pat Dunn. “Now, more than ever, we are committed to being a strong presence in the recovery efforts in the Coastal Bend. Every single penny will be given directly to the cities and relief efforts in our area. After seeing the devastation in our surrounding area over the past few days first-hand, they need our continued support and the support of the hockey community. We want to give them what they deserve and need most as they rebuild stronger and better than ever.”

Throughout September, the IceRays will be accepting donations to benefit Hurricane Harvey relief efforts in the Coastal Bend and greater Corpus Christi area. For every 10 dollars donated, one ticket will be generated for the IceRays Home Opener on September 29 at the American Bank Center to be given to first responders, public servants and direct victims in high impact areas. All donators of 10 dollars or more will be given a promotional code to watch the IceRays host the Odessa Jackalopes on September 29 for free on HockeyTV.

Those looking to donate and help out the neighboring cities to Corpus Christi can visit www.YouCaring.com/IceRaysHarvey to place your donation. The IceRays ask that all donations be given in increments of ten (10) but will willingly accept any assistance others are able to provide. All donations and proceeds from the Harvey Relief Virtual Sellout will be given directly to local Hurricane Harvey relief efforts and organizations. As money is raised, specific numbers and beneficiaries will be announced to ensure that donators know where their contributions are headed.

“It is truly amazing how the hockey community has come together in this unique and difficult time to support the IceRays and those in the Corpus Christi area. We’ve received phone calls, texts, messages, and all kinds of support for our organization throughout the storm, and we are grateful for their thoughts. Now, we want to turn our efforts and their attention to our neighbors that need it most. We want to open the season by opening our arms to the victims of Hurricane Harvey and those who put their safety and comfort to the side to directly help others. Let’s show Texas the strength of the hockey community, and let’s pack the arena for the Coastal Bend.”

Those that want to purchase single-game tickets for the IceRays Home Opener on September 29 will be able to do so when individual tickets go on sale. Further updates, including donation locations and special tie-ins to the relief efforts on opening night, will be given at a later time.
