Ice Dogs move into 2nd with 7th straight win

Chase Thudium had a hat-trick in a 6-5 win on Thursday night.

Kenai River Brown Bears 2 @ Fairbanks Ice Dogs 3 - Two first period goals helped the Fairbanks Ice Dogs clinch a 3-2 win over the Kenai River Brown Bears. Fairbanks first goal came 8:20 in the first via the stick of Benton Maass, with help from Hampus Eriksson and Kyle Mayhew. The Ice Dogs doubled their lead at 14:25 with a goal from Hunter Wendt, assisted by Robert Blueger and Cayden Cahill. At the end of the first, Fairbanks leads, 2-0. Kenai River scored the only goal in the second. At 14:54, Jack Vincent notched one to cut the lead in half. Preston Weeks and Evan Butcher grabbed assists on the goal. Cahill netted a goal at 7:49 of the third - with help from Wendt and Blueger- to bring the score to 3-1, Ice Dogs. Vincent scored again at 19:57 for Kenai River, resulting in a final score of 3-2, Fairbanks. Vincent's goal was assisted by Jonathan Marzec and Christopher Lipe. Ice Dogs' goalie Erik Gordon notched 14 saves on the night, and Bailey Seagraves made 29 stops for the Brown Bears. Boxscore

Wichita Falls Wildcats 5 @ Odessa Jackalopes 6 - Chase Thudium notched a hat trick to help the Odessa Jackalopes a 6-5 win over the Wichita Falls Wildcats. Zac Herrmann drew first blood with a 9:12 goal for the Jackalopes, assisted by Thudium and Ludwig Stenlund. Shortly after at 12:15, Thudium notched his first goal with help from Jake Levin and Jon Flakne. Zach Zech then scored again for Odessa, with help from Cooper Zech and Stenlund, bringing the Odessa lead to 3. At 16:51, the Wildcats got on the scoreboard with a goal from Ryan Burnett, assisted by Matt Hanewall. Before the end of the first, the score is 4-1 Jackalopes with Thudium's second of the night - at 17:43 and with help from Stenlund and Peyton Frantti. Wichita Falls came back fighting in the second, with goals from Steven Tillie- assisted by Roman Kinal - and Jonathan Waring - assisted by Kevin Fees and CJ Regula. But Thudium notched his third goal at 9:36, with help from Stenlund and Frantti, to bring the scoring to 5-3 Odessa after 40 minutes of play.  The Jackalopes opened the third with a goal from Connor Stuart, assisted by Z. Zech and Christian Hausinger, to grow their lead. Wichita Falls fought back with two goals - from Fees and CJ Walker- in a comeback attempt. Fees' goal was assisted by Ryan Orgel and Regula, while Walker had help from Waring. In the end, it wasn't enough and the Odessa Jackalopes came out on top after 60 minutes. Odessa's Flanke made 30 saves on the night, while Evan Mouse and Jared Dempsey stopped 15 and 30 shots, respectively, for Wichita Falls. Boxscore

Johnstown Tomahawks 4 @ Northeast Generals 3 - A goal at 18:24 of the third period decided the game with a 4-3 victory to the Johnstown Tomahawks against the Northeast Generals. Colin Bilek opened the scoring early at 1:34 into the match for the Generals, assisted by Mike Egan and Kohei Sato. The Tomahawks returned the favor quickly with the first of two goals from Joshua Norman at 3:31, assisted by Dalton Hunter and Daniil Bokun.  Johnstown came out shooting in the second, with a goal at 1:39 from Evan Somoza with help from Andrew Quetell and Andy Iehle. Hayden Rowan notched a goal after a pass from Edward Hirka at 11:04 of the second period. Northeast's Hunter Canestra closed the period with a goal at 18:47, assisted by Matt Wiesner and Kyle Martin.  Halfway through the third, the score is 3-2 Johnstown when Brian Chambers fires one past Tomahawk goaltender Drew Hotte to tie the match at 9:11. Chambers' goal was assisted by Justin Jallen and Tim Weinstein. With the game tied at 3 and time ticking by, Joshua Norman struck again with a goal, assisted by Nick Bruce and Hunter, at 18:24 to close the game.  Hotte made 23 saves for Johnstown, and David Fessenden stopped 40 shots for Northeast. Boxscore

Janesville Jets 5 @ Coulee Region Chill 3 - Two fast goals to start the game gave the Janesville Jets a head start on their way to a 5-3 victory over the Coulee Region Chill. First, Peter Bates opened the game with a goal at 2:43 for the Jets, assisted by Joseph Abate and Frank Sullivan. Shortly after, Jake Novak scored again for the Jets at 3:24 to double their lead to 2-0. Novak's goal was assisted by Adam Roeder and Blake Wareham. Coulee Region's Justin Kendall, with help from Billy Duma and Caleb Schroer, cut the Jets' lead in half with a goal at 7:08 in the first. With less than three minutes remaining, both teams scored once again to bring the game to 3-2 Jets. The Janesville goal came at 17:23 from Abate, assisted by Kip Hoffmann and Wareham. From the Chill, Andy McGlynn notched one at 19:17, with help from Duma and Bailey Martin.  The second period showed significantly less scoring, with the only goal coming from Hofmann-assisted by Cullen Munson and Abate- at 11:49 to increase Janesville's lead to 4-2.  The Coulee Region came out fighting, scoring fast at 3:23 to bring them within one. Schroer notched the goal, with help from Justin Kendall and Marshal Plunkett. Hoffmann struck with less than 5 second remaining to secure the win for the Jets. His goal was assisted by Munson and Michael Maloney. Janesville's Derek Schaedig made 30 saves in net, while Joe Marcoullier stopped 32 shots for Coulee Region. Boxscore
