Friday Finals: OT win captures South title for Brahmas

Wichita Falls 2 @ Lone Star 3 (OT) – A fight to win between Lone Star and Wichita Falls required overtime on Friday. The Brahmas sealed their victory with regulation goals from Drake Glover and Carson Kelley. Carson Kelley also scored the game-winner for Lone Star just 54 seconds into overtime. The win secured the South Division regular season title for the Brahmas. Both goals for Wichita Falls were scored by Nick Rosa. In net, Max Prawdzik made 16 saves for the Brahmas’ win, while Wichita Falls’ Jared Dempsey made 21 saves for an OTL.  Boxscore

New Jersey 5 @ Northeast 1 – New Jersey grabbed a 5-1 win over Northeast on Friday night. Goals for the Titans were scored by Jordan Kaplan (2), Danny Eruzione, Nick Boyagian, and Kyler Head. Northeast’s lone goal was scored by Colin Bilek. In net, Ryan Ferland took the win for New Jersey with 21 saves, while Parker Swanson made 27 saves for Northeast in the loss. Boxscore

Aston 1 @ Johnstown 2 (OT) – Bonus hockey was required to determine Johnstown as the winner in a Friday night matchup against Aston. Aaron Maguyon started the scoring with a goal for the Rebels, which was shortly followed up by a Johnstown goal by Nick Bruce. Just 20 seconds in to overtime, Donovan Ott scored to give the Tomahawks the win. Drew Hotte took the win in net for Johnstown with 16 saves. Jack Leavy took the OTL with 18 saves for the Rebels.  Boxscore

Springfield 3 @ Coulee Region 4 – Coulee Region secured a 4-3 win at home on Friday over Springfield. Coulee Region saw goals from Andy McGlynn, Taylor Trapp, Joey Sofo and Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup. Springfield’s goal were scored by Matt Cassidy, Jordan Muzzillo, and Max Nylander. Joe Marcoullier took the win in net for the Chill after 37 saves. Springfield’s Mike Robinson made 33 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Corpus Christi 2 @ Odessa 3 – Odessa scored three unanswered goals to close out a 3-2 win over Corpus Christi on Friday night. The Jackalopes three goals were credited to Connor Stuart, Chris Donaldson, and Levi Wunder. Cole Gammer and Brendan Miller each scored for the Ice Rays. In net, Jonny Hogue took the win for Odessa with 34 saves, while Cam Burggrabe made 32 stops in Corpus Christi’s loss. Boxscore

Minot 3 @ Austin 1 – Three unanswered goals closed out a 3-1 win for Minot as they visited Austin on Friday night. The Bruins started the scoring with a goal from Travis Kothenbeutel. Minot followed up with goals from Colby Enns, Alex Adams and Nate Pionk. Austin Park took the win in net for Minot with 25 saves, while Jake Kucharski made 29 saves in Austin’s loss. Boxscore

Amarillo 2 @ Shreveport 3 (SO) – A five round shootout was required to settle a score between the Amarillo Bulls and Shreveport Mudbugs on Friday night. The Mudbugs prevailed, with goals from Steven Mather and Giovanni Carabelli in regulation, and Kieran Durgan in the shootout. Amarillo’s regulation goals were scored by Brendan Walkom and Steven Ipri. In net, Dylan Lubbesmeyer took the win with 30 saves, while Nikita Babintsev had 38 saves in the Bulls’ SOL. Boxscore

Brookings 5 @ Bismarck 1 – Brookings turned on the jets for s 5-1 win on Friday at Bismarck. Bismarck started the night with a goal from Michael Mahan. Brookings answered back with five straight goals, which were scored by Paul Cotter, Connor Koviak, Derek Hammer, Cade Borchardt, and Parker Revering. Boxscore

Janesville 1 @ MN Magicians 2 – The Magicians held on to an early lead for a 2-1 win over Janesville to start the weekend. Minnesota goals came from Andrew Kangas and Nikita Kozyrev. Carter Ekberg scored the lone goal from the Jets. In net, Ivan Prosvetoc had 29 saves in the Magicians’ win, while Janesville’s Jacob Barczewski made 21 saves in the loss.  Boxscore

MN Wilderness 2 @ Aberdeen 6 – Five unanswered goals by the Aberdeen Wings to finish the evening resulted in a 6-2 against the Wilderness on Friday. Minnesota saw goals from Tristan Rostagno and Dylan Mills. Aberdeen’s goals were scored by Nolan Sullivan, Carson Dimoff, Colin Raver, Joey Strada (2) and Tyler Bossert. Forbes Ploszaj made 22 saves in the win for Aberdeen, while Luke Kania made 35 stops in the Wilderness’ loss. Boxscore

Topeka 5 @ Kenai River 3 – The Topeka RoadRunners grabbed a 5-3 win to start their weekend in Kenai River on Friday night. Topeka saw goals from Jay Keranen, Jake Rosenbaum, and Alex Frye (3). Kenai River’s three tallies came from Jake Friedman, Tyler Rock, and Anthony Tzveyn. In net, Ben Churchfield made 27 for Topeka’s win. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton 0 @ Fairbanks 7 – A seven-goal shutout started the weekend for Fairbanks as they hosted Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday night. Cayden Cahill scored a hat trick for the Ice Dogs, while the other four goals came from Ryan Kero, Grayson Gavin, Hampus Eriksson, and Benton Mass. In net, Erik Gordon took the win for Fairbanks with 21 perfect saves, earning his third shutout this season. Grant Valentine and Austin Ryman split duty in net for the Knights, combining for 28 saves in the loss. Boxscore
