Bruins teddy bear toss a success
December 7, 2016

The Austin Bruins, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), completed another successful Teddy Bear Toss, collecting items for the Salvation Army of Austin and delivering two overflowing bins of stuffed animals and wish-tag gifts on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bruins hosted the Aberdeen Wings on Saturday night for the annual Teddy Bear Toss - sponsored by Power 96 Radio, and asked fans to bring new or lightly used stuffed animals to throw onto the ice after the Bruins first goal. With the Wings leading 2-0 early in the 2nd period, rookie forward Cole Lawrence (Eden Prairie, MN) scored the goal that sent the fur flying at the 2:44 mark. The Bruins would later tie the game at 2, but go on to a 6-2 loss.
As part of the initiative, the Bruins also hung "wish tags" on the Christmas tree in the main lobby for fans to fulfill by purchasing the corresponding gift. These gifts were delivered this afternoon along with the stuffed animals.
During their game against the Minnesota Magicians on November 18th, the Bruins held a Thanksgiving food drive and fans filled six boxes of non-perishable items. The Bruins had only requested five.
The Austin Bruins would like to thank their fans for the continued outpouring of generosity in their charitable efforts.
