Brookings defenseman Spetz makes NCAA commitment

June 20, 2016
The Brookings Blizzard, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that defenseman Connor Spetz has committed to play NCAA Division III hockey at the University of St. Thomas who are members of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC).

Spetz, 20, finished among the top four defenseman in scoring for Brookings this past year with 12 points (2 goals, 10 assists).

The St. Michael, Minnesota native played two years for the Blizzard from 2014-16 appearing in 103 games and finished his junior career with 20 points (4 goals, 16 assists). Spetz (6’3/175) will join Blizzard teammate Kane Durment aboard the roster at St. Thomas.

“Connor filled many rolls for us as a second year player. We played him in all situations, and if someone was struggling, we’d put them with Connor. He always got the player back on track he will be a hard player to replace. We wish him luck at St. Thomas,” said Dan Daikawa, Head Coach of the Brookings Blizzard.

"I am very excited to be attending and playing hockey at the University of St. Thomas next year. I'd like to thank my coaches, parents, and teammates for helping me get this far,” stated Spetz.
