Coulee Region forward Florian makes NCAA DI commitment

May 18, 2016
The Coulee Region Chill, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Dominik Florian has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at American International College (AIC), who are members of the Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA).

Florian, 21, just completed his third and final season of junior hockey, which was spent in both the NAHL and the NA3HL. The native of Vlasim, Czech Republic had his best year this past season as Florian (6’3/200) led the Chill in scoring with 51 points (29 goals, 22 assists) in 51 games played.  He also had two points in three playoff games.

He was also selected to and played in the 2016 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the Midwest Division team.

“We are excited for Dom making his commitment to play hockey at AIC. With the recent coaching change he will have the opportunity to put his mark on what the program becomes. They are getting a great person and hockey player,” said former Chill head coach AJ Degenhardt.

Florian began his junior career in the 2013-14 season with the Austin Bruins, recording 10 points in 25 games. Later that season Florian played for the North Iowa Bulls in the NA3HL, where he was part of the Bulls 2014 NA3HL Silver Cup Championship team and USA Hockey Junior National Championship Runner-Up team.  In 30 games during the 2013-14, which included the USA Hockey Junior National Championship tournament, Florian recorded 14 goals and 29 assists.  Florian turned his success with the Bull's into a tender with the Coulee Region Chill.

“Dominik was a dynamic player in our group who had a shoot first mentality that lead to scoring opportunities for him and his linemates.  He added upper end depth to an already solid group of forwards during the time he was with us,” remarked Bulls head coach Todd Sanden.

During the 2014-15 season with the Chill, Florian had 33 points in 55 games played. In his NAHL career, Florian played in 131 career regular season games and recorded 94 points.
