Springfield goalie Della Maggorie makes NCAA DI commitment

The Springfield Jr. Blues, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that goaltender Niko Della Maggiore has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. The University of Alaska-Fairbanks is member of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA).
Della Maggiore, 21, has spent the last two seasons with the Jr. Blues. This past season he earned an 11-8-2 record with a 91.3% save percentage and a 2.82 GAA average. He was named the Midwest Division Player of the Week for the week of October 26th and was named the NAHL Goalie of the Month for the month of October.
In his NAHL career, the native of Gilro, California, played in 47 career regular season games with a 2.82 goals against average and 91.2% save percentage.
Prior to playing in the NAHL, Della Maggorie (5’11/190) played two years in the NAPHL during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons, both for the San Jose Jr. Sharks 18U team.
Della Maggiore is the 12th Jr. Blues player to make a college commitment this season including: Joey Lupo – Amherst; Erich Fear – Denver; Kyle Meeh – Saint Mary’s University; Tommy Nappier – Ohio State; Trevor Stone – Air Force; Anthony Scarsella – Michigan State; Michael Houle – Bowling Green; Brady Tomlak – Air Force; Sam Craggs – Bowling Green; Hunter Schneider – Wisconsin-River Falls; Teddy Rotenberger – Alabama – Huntsville.
