Express' McGinty headed to Canisius

February 9, 2010

The Owatonna Express has announced that forward Brian McGinty has committed to Canisius College (Atlantic Hockey) for next season.

McGinty, a 20-year-old from Bethel Park, Pa., has 12 goals for 36 points through 44 games this season.

“I couldn’t be happier for Brian,” said Express head coach Pat Cullen. “He’s getting a great opportunity at a great college.  He’s worked hard and will be very successful at the next level.”

McGinty is the fourth player from this year’s Express team to commit to a Division I program, joining forwards Ben Persian (Air Force Academy) and Jake Youso (University of Minnesota) and goaltender Mike Shibrowski, who left the team at the holiday break to join Colorado College (WCHA).

Canisius is located in Buffalo, N.Y.

“Brian has worked very hard to become a more complete player over the time he’s spent with our organization,” Cullen added.
