Ice Dogs' Taffe headed to Nebraska-Omaha

January 23, 2010

The Fairbanks Ice Dogs have announced that goaltender Mike Taffe has committed to the University of Nebraska-Omaha (CCHA), which will join the WCHA next season.

In 24 appearances, Taffe, an 18-year-old from Maple Grove, Minn., is tied for the league-lead in wins (17) to compliment a 2.40 goals-against average and a .913 save percentage.

“This is a great opportunity for Mike and we couldn’t be happier for him and his family,” said Ice Dogs head coach Josh Hauge.  “Omaha is getting the complete package in Mike; he’s a great goaltender, a great teammate and a great person.”

Taffe is the third player from this year’s Ice Dogs team to commit to a Division I program, joining Michael Juola (Brown University) and Jared Linnell (University of Alaska-Fairbanks).
