Hitmen inks first tender in Albrecht
The Chicago Hitmen, which will begin play in the North American Hockey League (NAHL) next season, has announced that forward Jim Albrecht has signed the team’s first tender.
The captain of the Central States League’s Chicago Force the past two seasons, the 1990 birth year posted 58 points on 25 goals in 2008-09, ranking him 12th in league scoring.
This year, he has 22 points (seven goals) through 12 games.
“Jim has been a great leader for the Force over the last two seasons,” said Hitmen owner Mark Hammersmith. “By leading by example on and off the ice, he’ll be a huge part of our transition to the North American Hockey League.”
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team.
