Pair of graduates named to AHL All-Star Classic

December 31, 2009

Two former NAHL players - Dan Fritsche and Andy Wozniewski - were named to the PlanetUSA AHL All-Star Team roster for the 2010 Time Warner Cable AHL All-Star Classic, which will be played on January 19 at the Cumberland County Civic Center in Portland, Maine.

Fritsche, a forward with the Syracuse Crunch, skated for the NAHL’s Cleveland Barons during the 2000-01 season. That year, he posted 52 points (23 goals) in 49 games.

The Parma, Ohio, native was a second-round selection of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Wozniewski, a defenseman with the Providence Bruins, patrolled the blue line for the Texas Tornado during the 2000-01 season. He posted 44 points on 10 goals in 54 games in his only NAHL season.

After his seasoning with Texas, the Buffalo Grove, Ill., native played three seasons at the University of Wisconsin (WCHA) before embarking on his professional career.
