Saturday Scores: Bruins back on top in Central after sweep

Aberdeen Wings 2 @ Austin Bruins 4 – Jay Dickman and Niko Hildenbrand each had multi-point games as the Bruins completed a weekend home sweep of the Wings with a 4-2 win on Saturday. Aberdeen took a 1-0 lead in the 1st period on a goal from TJ Roo. However, the Bruins would scored the next four on goals from Dickman, Hildenbrand, Joe Schuldt and Luke Dietsch. Erik Baskin added a late goal for the Wings to make the final 4-2. Nick Lehr made 19 saves in the win. Boxscore

Wichita Falls Wildcats 4 @ Odessa Jackalopes 1 – The Wildcats outshot the Jacks 44-17 on their way to a 4-1 win and weekend road sweep in Odessa. After a scoreless 1st period, goals from Kyle Bauman and Will Vosejpka put Wichita Falls ahead 2-0. Lukas Laub scored late in the 2nd period to cut the lead to 2-1.  However, two 3rd period goals from Colin Staub and Rudy Junda iced the win for the Wildcats. David Zevnik picked up the win in goal, making 16 saves. Boxscore

Coulee Region Chill 2 @ Minnesota Magicians 5 – Cody Milligan and Nick Kuchera each scored twice to help the Magicians to a 5-2 win at home over the visiting Chill. The Magicians jumped out to a big 3-0 lead in the 1st period on goals from Alex Funk, Milligan and Kuchera. Coulee Region cut the lead to 3-2 on goals from Andy Faust and Mac Jansen, but Kuchera and Milligan would add late 3rd period goals to secure the win. Boxscore

Amarillo Bulls 3 @ Corpus Christi IceRays 0 – Paul Berrafato stopped all 21 shots that came his way to help the Bulls to a 3-0 win over the IceRays in front of over 4,000 fans in Corpus Christi. The Bulls jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st period on goals from Cody Gylling and Kyle Gattelaro.  Gattelaro would end up adding a second goal in the 2nd period to make it 3-0, which is all the Bulls would need. Ben Myers made 35 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Kenai River Brown Bears 1 @ Fairbanks Ice Dogs 7 – Tayler Munson and Kyle Lee each scored twice to help the Ice Dogs to a 7-1 win over Kenai River. It was all Fairbanks from the start as Ross Olsson opened the scoring in the 1st period. Then came five, 2nd period goals including two from Munson, two from Lee and another from Duggie Lagrone. Viktor Liljegren made it 7-0 with a goal in the 3rd period. Alec Butcher scored the lone Brown Bears goal with just :28 seconds remaining, which spoiled the shutout bid of Patrick Munson. Boxscore

Topeka RoadRunners 1 @ Lone Star Brahmas 2 – TJ Black made 30 saves to help the Brahmas to a 2-1 win, salvaging a weekend home split with the RoadRunners. Despite getting outshot 31-12, the Brahmas jumped on top 1-0 with an early goal from Connor Enciso. Topeka would respond with a power play goal from Cody Champagne. The game-winner came in the 2nd period on a power play goal from Thomas Aldworth. Drew Vogler made 10 saves in the RoadRunners loss. Boxscore

Brookings Blizzard 4 @ Bismarck Bobcats 3 – Jared Goudreau scored twice to help the Blizzard to an important sweep of their home-and-home series with the Bobcats. Goudreau scored the first of his two goals in the 1st period along with a goal from Evan Hesse to give Brookings a 2-0 lead. Bismarck responded with goals from Nate Repensky and Huba Sekesi to tie the game at 2-2 after two periods. The Blizzard took a 4-2 lead on goals from Conor Andrle and Goudreau, but a late goal from Bismarck’s Evan Giesler wasn’t enough. Boxscore

Michigan Warriors 2 @ Springfield Jr. Blues 4 – The Jr. Blues scored the final three goals of the game to defeat Michigan 4-2 and earn a weekend home split against the Warriors. Michigan opened the scoring on a goal from Cody Lichtenvoort. Springfield answered with a goal from Brendan Jacques. The Warriors regained a one goal lead in the 2nd period on a shorthanded goal from Colin Larkin, but the Jr. Blues would score the next three on tallies from Nikita Prishyvalko in the 2nd period and Garrett Elmore and Max Kalter in the 3rd period. Janesville Jets 0 @ Port Huron Fighting Falcons 4 – Max Milosek made 33 saves for his second straight shutout and his 4th shutout of the season as the Fighting Falcons blanked the visiting Jets. Taylor Fernandez scored the opening goal in the 1st period, which was followed by a goal early in the 2nd period by Bryce VanHorn. Jonathan Kopacka added a power play goal in the 3rd period and Bryan Yim added an empty-net goal. Logan Halladay made 30 saves in the loss. Boxscore

Wenatchee Wild 3 @ Johnstown Tomahawks 2 (OT) – Parker Tuomie scored twice and David Powlowski scored the overtime-winning goal just :14 seconds into the extra frame as the Wild earned a weekend series split with the Tomahawks. Matthew Meier opened the scoring for the Tomahawks early in the 1st period, but that was answered by back-to-back goals from Tuomie in the 1st and 2nd periods to put Wenatchee ahead. Dakoda Menslage gave the Tomahawks some extra life with an extra attacker goal with just :19 seconds remaining in regulation. Boxscore

Minnesota Wilderness 2 @ Minot Minotauros 3 (OT) – Tim Donohue scored with just :47 seconds to go in overtime to give the Minotauros an important 3-2 win over the visiting Wilderness. Minnesota took a 1-0 lead on goal from Thomas Lindstrom. Jake Johnson would answer for Minot to make it 1-1, but Lindstrom would again answer to make it 2-1. Jadin Martin tied the game later in the 3rd period setting up Donohue’s heroics in the extra session. Boxscore
