Northeast defenseman Gaudette makes NCAA D1 commitment

June 17, 2020

The Northeast Generals of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are excited to announce that Top Prospects defenseman Cam Gaudette has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey at Northeastern University in the 2021-22 season.

Gaudette, 20, who was an Assistant Captain this past season, just finished his second full year with the Generals in the NAHL.

In two+ years with the Generals, the 6’1/201 lbs. native of Braintree, Massachusetts, has played in 114 games where he has record 13 goals and 35 assists for 45 points.

During the 2019-20 season, Gaudette recorded 31 points in 49 games played and was selected to and played in the 2020 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament for the NAHL Selects Blue team.

Overall, Gaudette ranks 9th all time in Generals scoring, 3rd in all time penalty minutes, 2nd in points for a defenseman and 1st in goals by a defenseman.

Gaudette joins past and future Generals with his commitment to Northeastern.  He will join Alumni Matt Demelis who just finished up a stellar freshman year and incoming Gens player Anthony Messuri.

“We are so excited for Cam.  He has worked so hard on improving his game over the past few years and it is great to see him earn this commitment.  He is just a great kid from a great family that does things the right way.  He came to us from the prestigious Boston Advantage Program where he was coached so well by both Tim and Joe Lovell.  They have really transformed his game.  He always has a smile on his face, is a great leader and is a dominant force on the blueline.  His skating ability is at a very high level as is his ability to make offense happen from the backend.  Northeastern is getting a great kid and player.  We are really proud of Cam,” said Generals Head Coach/GM Bryan Erikson.

Northeastern plays in Hockey East one of the best leagues in College Hockey.  In 2019-2020 the Huskies ended the (shortened) season 18-13-3 and ranked 19th in the nation.  They also captured the Beanpot Championship.
