New Wenatchee team ready to run Wild
After soliciting input from the community’s youth, Wenatchee Sports Partners is proud to announce that the new NAHL team now has a name: the Wenatchee Wild.
Co-owner Rocky Flynn stated that the organization is dedicated to making this a team that belongs to the community, and having the youth of Wenatchee involved in the naming was part of that process.
“We went to both Wenatchee High School and Eastmont High School and several junior high and elementary schools and asked the students for their suggestions,” said Flynn.
The kids were given a choice of five names plus an opportunity to provide their own ideas. Some of the more unique names were the Wranglers, Bombers, Wonders, Hockeyes, Winning Walruses and Ice Busters. Most of the new and different names came from the elementary schools.
Unveiling of the Wild’s logo will take place early next week. At that time, the team will also have a drawing for the Name-the-Team participants, announce winners and give out prizes.
Contact the Wild’s office at (509) 423-7488 or visit the team’s official Web site, WenatcheeWild.com, to request information on season and group tickets.
