NAHL introduces Top Prospects Tournament
The North American Hockey League announced today that its first annual Top Prospects Tournament will be held February 17-19, 2008 at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The event will feature all-star teams from the NAHL's Central, North and South Divisions, as well as a team from the U.S. National Team Development Program, competing in a three-game, round-robin tournament.
"This is a unique event that will showcase our league's best players to college and professional scouts over an entire weekend," said NAHL commissioner Mark Frankenfeld.
In conjunction with the Top Prospects Tournament, the third and final event of the season's NAHL Midget Showcase Series will be held February 15-18 at the Ice Cube. A USA Hockey Tier I sanctioned event, the tournament will field twelve (12) teams at the Midget Major level. At least one representative from every NAHL member team's coaching/recruiting staff will be in attendance.
"With so many college and professional scouts expected to attend our Top Prospects Tournament, it presents the perfect opportunity to host our third Midget event," said Frankenfeld. "All participating players will be guaranteed tremendous exposure."
The NAHL is now accepting applications for the third Midget Showcase Series event. The application can be found at www.nahlmidgetshowcase.com.
More details on the Top Prospects Tournament will be released in the coming months.
