Minnesota Mallards Defenseman Murphy Makes NCAA Commitment

Before joining the Mallards, Murphy skated for the Janesville Jets

The Minnesota Mallards of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that defenseman Bauer Murphy has committed to play NCAA hockey for Gustavus Adolphus College in the MIAC.

The 6-foot-1 blueliner from Grand Rapids, Minnesota, Murphy will join the Golden Gusties at Gustavus Adolphus College. Murphy is a second-year veteran of the NAHL, spending most of his time skating with the Janesville Jets. The ‘05 defenseman started his age-out campaign with the Janesville Jets, lacing up in 28 contests for the Midwest Division team. He recorded six assists from the blue line. Murphy would be acquired by the Minnesota Mallards in early January. The State of Hockey skater would go on to skate in 27 contests with the Central Division club, recording 13 points in that span. He lit the lamp on three occasions while registering 10 assists for the team. Murphy was effective on the man advantage, recording two of his goals on the power play.

In his first full season in the League of Opportunity, Murphy laced up in 53 games with the Janesville Jets, logging 16 points for the Midwest Division club. He tallied three goals and recorded 13 assists for the Wisconsin-based team.

Before his first season of junior hockey, Murphy got a taste of the League of Opportunity with a seven-game appearance with the Janesville Jets in the 2023-24 season. He scored his first junior goal while recording one assist for the Midwest Division team.

For his NAHL career, Murphy played 115 games across the two teams, logging 37 points in that span.

Murphy is one of 14 members of the Minnesota Mallards to make a college ice hockey commitment.
