Northeast Forward Rucireto makes NCAA Commitment

The Northeast Generals of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) are proud to announce that forward Rich Rucireto has committed to play NCAA hockey for Oswego State in the SUNYAC.

The 5-foot-9 lefty from Staten Island, New York, Rucireto will stay in his home state to skate with the Lakers this upcoming fall. Rucireto is a second-year veteran of the Generals, skating in 86 games in a Northeast sweater. The ‘05 skater laced up in 19 regular season contests after rejoining the Generals in late January. He scored 11 goals and recorded 13 assists. His 24 points in the regular season included a point-per-game performance for the East Division club. Rucireto was effective on the man advantage, tallying four power-play goals, two of which were deciders in the regular season. The New York native additionally featured a +13 rating on the ice.

In the postseason, Rucireto played in eight playoff games for the Generals, notching four points for the Massachusetts-based team. He scored three goals and produced an assist during Northeast’s hunt for the Robertson Cup. He tallied two power-play markers and recorded a +6 rating on the ice.

The 5-foot-9 lefty made his debut for the Generals in the 2024-25 season, lacing up in every regular season contest. The New York native scored a team-leading 29 goals, 39 assists, and 68 points. He recorded over a point per game, the only Northeast skater to do so. Rucireto scored seven power-play tallies and recorded five deciders for his East Division team in his debut season.

His effectiveness on the ice earned him recognition as one of the top rookie skaters in the League of Opportunity. He was named to the NAHL All-Rookie Team and as the East Division’s Rookie of the Year.

Rucireto is one of 13 members of the Northeast Generals to make a college ice hockey commitment.
